One of the things that always sticks out to me about Sandy Hook is, Adam Lanza was a stranger in his own home. His mom basically ignored him and the result was one of the greatest tragedies in the US to date.

It is my goal and it should be every parent's goal to not only have dinner as a family but to engage in actual dialogue with your kids so you actually know them on a deeper level. Parenting is hard with all of the online distractions and social media bullying, etc, but as parents we need to stay tuned in to what our kids are doing and how they are feeling emotionally.
