Stanich has gassed every non-American today.  It's been super impressive of him.

Nini kept it close simply because he knew the folkstyle tendancies that Stanich might go to.

A Folkstyle match might look much different, per wrestlestat:

Stanich's opponent, Russia's Dzhandubaev who fared better against Kazakstan's Zhenissov (6-0) than he did against Iran's TATHASHTIKEH (hung on at the end, 10-9)

He has length & strength... unless he lungs-out against Luke's pace.

It will be an interesting semifinal between them.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Locket needs to stop being such a Diva.  That is at least two matches that were tough where he showed that he lacked the mental fortitude against some of the best (of his age).

He is going to lose it when he can't get out from bottom against someone like Caliendo.

I was 100% convinced after the ob grounded sequence when he started yelling over that he was going to just stand and stare at him for the last 9 seconds. That was 100% a 4 sequence his coaches saved him by not challenging.

Dhzandubaev is 2-0 against Toprak that Luke went down 8-0 before breaking 6-4 and winner by tech and u20 and u23 euros.

The KAZ that beat Knox isn't a slouch, fwiw.

I know he lost to 3L, but it wasn't a blowout, by any means.  3L beat everyone else there via Techfellery.

Right, but him thinking he knows better/best than his coaching staff shows huge signs of immaturity there.  He had a similar instance against Germany that he exposed his lack of mental fortitude in that department.  He needs to learn humility and grace.

Imagine his reaction to getting smoked by MM.

Yep.  The way he won that close match late was definitely mentally weak.  Coming from behind after a close call went against him was bad.

Ignoring the fact that he was a Diva, we knew he had the talent to win it all here.  Never have I said anything otherwise.

Not sure what Kazakhstan is challenging here.  It's been over 30 seconds since that sequence.

You said he lacks mental fortitude.  While coming from behind to win a close match.

Whatever it was it didn't work out for Aitanov; 3 - 1 for the Russian w/ 50 seconds to go

I said he lacks a certain mental fortitude, or he wouldn't be a Diva.  That is still true.  He has the talent to make up for it against a U20 field.

You'll have to agree to let me disagree with you.  I have been around this sport for the better part of 40 years now, even competing at the highest levels.  A duck is a duck.

Just because you declare he lacks mental fortitude doesn't make it true.  It's awesome you call it a fact and then say I have to let you disagree.

There's many different kinds of mental fortitude; just like there's many different kinds of fitness (bench press vs mile run etc).  No one is saying Lockett isn't skilled nor are they saying the late score to come back wasn't impressive or mentally strong but the complaining to the ref and exasperated gestures when something doesn't go his way does show at best an immaturity and at worst a lack of mental toughness.

It kinda reminds me of Anthony Valencia; not saying that's Lockett's collegiate future . . . just saying I see similar behavior when things don't go his way
