I'd rather two horses in the race than one. Nothing is going to create more parity until we have some sort of salary cap for programs, and then it will be more like the old days of limited scholarships and coaches having to actually be strategic about who gets paid and how much is being offered.

It won't affect a two horse race. Ok State can only start 10 guys...as noted they have potentially 13 guys in 5 weights... not keeping everyone happy and having some leave to become AA at other schools is a good thing. Ask BearClaw and UVU how that worked out and it didn't hurt PSU one bit, because they can only have 10 guys. So I'm all for not keeping the PSU and Ok States of the world happy.

Hall went back to the well and brought in another Penn St career backup this year too - David Evans; he won't be as good as BearClaw but more people will know his name in March than do now I suspect

We need to get back to those old days when there was tons of parity and no dynasties.

PSU's average team score from 2011 to 2021 (pre-transfer portal and NIL era) was 121.3 and they averaged 10.9 more points than the highest placing team other than themselves in that same window.

In the 4 years since NIL and penalty free transfers PSU has averaged 154.625 points and outscored the second place team by an average margin of 62.85.

In their peak run from 1975 to 2000, Iowa won 20 NCAA titles. They averaged 120.22 points at NCAAs and outscored their competition by an average of 24.55 points during that stretch (granted changes in team scoring has some effect on these numbers, I just don't exactly know how much).

More "parity" might not mean someone else hoists the trophy at the end of the year, but at least a semblance of a team race would be a marked improvement compared to the direction NCAA wrestling has taken since the 2022 season.

Ah. I misunderstood your previous post. My apologies. I agree with your sentiment. It's frustrating when you have guys like Sealey, Mirasola, Davis/Nagao, Sakamoto, McComas, Thompson, Hughes, etc. all on the bench losing a year of eligibility when they would be a great addition on so many other teams.

The only two people I don't think he really has a chance to beat at 149lbs are Henson and SVN.  He absolutely can beat anyone else currently listed at 149lbs.

I would probably include Lachlan McNeil on that list too - he's not in the same tier as Henson/SVN but I can't see Evans beating McNeil
