I'm not on Tik Tok. Caveier post about someone cashing on "their lies," and all it was was a video saying...we should be less partisan. That was it 47 seconds, less partisan, that's what my book is about.

BUT...then it went to the next video... as it does and I found this absolute gem.

"What was we ranked Nationally in 1979."

Very basic Math...English, soft ball questions that she couldn't even get a piece of!

There is a kid in my neighborhood that didn’t go to 8th grade school most of the year.  Attended less than 5% of the days.   Chicago public schools (nice neighborhood).   They passed him and sent him on to high school.

The stories about the large city schools are crazy.

My grandfather who made it through 8th grade was amazingly articulate.  I inherited his machinist tools and in his tool box were notes related to jobs he was working on. He did math very few adults could do today and had handwriting that could be used as a font option in today computers. So as near as I can tell we've all been let down by modern education.

Chicago public school officials told teachers to give migrant students a passing grade and move them to the next grade, even if the students did not speak English and displayed “severe academic deficiencies,” according to a new report.

Migrants who moved to Chicago have resettled in predominantly black neighborhoods on the South and West Sides, communities where the schools are not always equipped to accommodate non-English speaking students.

The Promise That Never Was

Nearly three years ago, Governor Pritzker declared during his Illinois State of the State Address that Illinois will be “the best state in the nation to raise a young family.”

Three years later, less than 16% of the Chicago Public School’s 300,000 minority students can read at grade level - including only 11% of Black students and 17% of Latino children. Yet in 2021, 100% of CPS teachers were “evaluated as excellent or proficient by an administrator”.

If our public education system is graduating students who cannot read and our internal assessments are validating teachers as excellent or proficient, we need to do better.
