I've seen that happen many times, actually.

It was a joke buddy. I guess it went over your head.

I know it was a joke (not much of one) and it's something I've seen happen many times.

Walk on somewhere and prove their worth. Then, get paid.

Not that easy or simple anymore. Power 4 teams (and some others) have a 30 man roster cap and each athlete must be on a full scholarship. Most of the one's who are worth something (or have proven they are worth something) will already be picked up. The ones who have limited resumes (haven't proven their worth) will not be able to walk-on to a power 4 school, period because walk-ons no longer exist at the power 4 teams. And for the schools not opted into revenue sharing, they're still battling with the 9.9 scholarship thing. So it's not as easy as just showing up and proving your worth anymore. Coaches literally can't afford to 'take a chance on a kid'.

That's not they way I read the agreement. Don't think everyone has to be on scholarship. It says that school may offer 30.

Sorry, I just assumed that if a school has 30 scholarships, they will use all of them. But yes, I guess they technically do not have to use all of the resources given to them.
