Stanich beats bassett 5-2

Duke beats Robideau 8-3 (he looked really good I think Robideau could push to AA next year)

The Bassett loss is somewhat surprising.   He's got another year of high school, but one has to wonder how he will be at the college level.  He overwhelms high school guys the way, say, Marsteller did, but Marsteller didn't have that same ability at the college level.

I saw a lot of people on social media act like they are surprised by this too. Stanich is a beast. He placed 5th in the country as a true freshman in 2024. Beat several AAs as a redshirt this year. Has two years in a D1 room. The fact that Bassett is even close to that level is impressive. Definitely not an upset

It's crazy that a D1 AA beating two high schoolers in a row is considered impressive.

You have a good point regarding Bo using his physicality to overwhelm other high school kids. He's not a slick wrestler, seeming to prefer snap down-go behinds. That will be tougher to do at higher levels in both folk and free. Will he plateau or continue to develop? I wouldn't say that Chance is a good comparison, though, as his issues we more off the mat. His career would have been very different without all that, in my opinion.

Yes, Marsteller had other issues not related to wrestling.

Bo came back very strong and will use this loss as motivation.

Okay so I am I getting this right, but  Aeoden Sinclair competed in both 92Kg Seniors reaching the finals and also wrestle 86Kg, in U20’s again to get to the finals. What a stud.
The young kids came to play at this tournament.

no he started out calling Yianni Garvin I'm pretty sure, like he kept referring to the wrong guy having the chest wrap....but no big deal guy made a mistake I shouldn't care.

it’s not a big deal but he was speaking of Yianni the entire time and had no clue it was Candenas. it was funny but he made fun of himself

I don't think there's any question he's ready for the senior level guys at 70kg, considering he took 3rd at WTTs last year at the same weight.  That includes wins over Lewan, Jacques and Thomas.  He got worked by Pantaleo, but Pantaleo lost yesterday to Arrington and Andonian, who both finished well behind Duke at WTTs.  The Lewan win is especially notable considering Lewan beat Green two months ago (but lost to him yesterday).  Duke's still an underdog against Green/Yianni, but I don't doubt he'll be competitive.

I am not arguing that he can’t compete with some of the senior level guys, what I was saying was that he is not ready to make Final X yet and there certainly isn’t any shame in that for the 18 year old. Regardless of who Pantaleo lost to this week, doesnt matter. What I saw between that match and His finals match tonight leads me to believe that James Green and Yianni would both eat him up right now prolly by tech fall.  No clue what’s was up with the finals match tonight it was very un-Duke like for him not to shoot or be the aggressor at all. He will for sure have to change that up before next months senior event.

We can do A over B and B over C so A over C all day but the fact is James Green has made the senior world team at 70kg every time he has put his hat into the ring since 2015 which makes Yianni’s victory even that more impressive.

I don’t think he last a whole match with Yianni or James Green
