Futures up 3% this morning. Good news. Will it continue to bounce back? Who knows.

Yeah...I'm more concerned with the Nasdaq and the Semi stocks at that and...I don't know what the hell is going on. I thought I picked up more NVDA, AVGO and TSM at good long term prices yesterday, but they're turning around and...really regaining a lot of the value they lost quickly.

I hope it stays green. The Russell was up 2% last I checked...I hope everyone has a good day....except options traders. I hope this is a nice short squeeze.

Back in the day this was called a dead cat bounce. As in, even a dead cat will bounce when you drop it. There were a lot of colorful descriptions back in the day. Not necessarily true, but colorful.

My hope was that it might start bouncing back some by the end of the week. Who knows what will happen next. Do you think they will make the tax cuts permanent? Would that help ease some of the uncertainty in the markets and in the economy in general? I have never heard of the dead cat bounce. I do know they will always land on their feet no matter how you drop them ( if they are alive).

Yeah...I said that on Friday. The worst case MAY be the markets Green on Monday and Tuesday...but....I hope I'm wrong.

I have to sell NVDA(and AVGO) though. I bought 5000 at 87 and it's at 105 and I don't...see anything that's changed and I was already long in it.

Dead Cat bounce is basically just a couple days after a huge loss a stock will have a false rebound and then continue on it's way. NVDA...for example. It was at 153 recently, it's...going to have more net revenue than anyone else this year. It's price target was 220-225 in a bull case, 160 in a bear case(this is a BIG bear though). So it hits 87 and they have 50B approved for stock buybacks. It's why AAPL has remained the most valuable company despite some shaky earnings. They don't dillute their shares.

Now...when earnings come out, they've eliminated...10M shares, so your EPS is that much higher due to that many fewer shares outstanding. But if it's a short lived rally.

I don't see tax cuts having any appreciable difference. This is too big. You start with Japan(I believe we own the most of their debt). Then South Korea...Vietnam, Cambodia have already made concessions.

But you HAVE to isolate China. You...cannot create allies for them. If one of those is announced OR...better yet, he announced a delay to the tariffs, that'd give the market some room to breath. It'd also give companies some time going into earnings season to be able to guide for Q2....

Some people on this board are so saddened by this.  Sorry that you are having a bad day, guys.

I'm good. Stocks are stocks. Long term investment. I happen to be in a good mutual funds investment through my work. It's done well.

No, they're not. At least to us. They're standing up to the bully though. Saving face and not putting up with disrespect and not showing disrespect are a big part of the Asian culture and Trump should have researched that before publicly disrespecting them. It's not like the numerous cowards we have here in the U.S.

Just did. I spent a year over there. The cultures are different from each other but they have some things in common, in general. This is one of them. Go to any country over there and try to bully somebody around. They're much less likely to back down than cowards like Trump is used to dealing with.

Nice strawmen argument

First, not every country. I said, "in general."

Second of all, I'm talking about this one specific aspect of culture.

3rd, I'm actually talking about the "far east." The area where China is, since that was what I was referring to; Trump's bullying of China. I didn't clarify that, but since you want to make a huge issue about it, I'll clarify that.

Yes, on average, they put up with bullying and direspect less than U.S. cowards.

I was stationed in Korea for a year when I was in the military and traveled around over there.

Oh... so now you mean the Far East.  Countries that were influenced by Confucianism.

You must've not gotten out much, because "bullying" by superiors over "inferiors" in Confucian influenced cultures is  pretty common, and has been implicated in poor crew relationships leading to Korean airline crashes decades ago.

But yeah, keep lumping in Korea with Afghanistan... they're exactly the same.  Keep stereotyping "Asians" as one group of people, too.  Clown.

Colorful indeed. Tasty if properly prepared because the dead cat has already been tenderized by the fall.

Really? You think China is being the bully here? It's not China putting tariffs on penguins.
