Because PSU is a cult.

🤣 That good considering Iowa literally only looks at former Iowa wrestlers for coaching positions and RTC wrestlers. You know, Iowa style. They do love the 1 year rentals though

I always liked the fact that JWS scheduled duals with teams led by folks from on his coaching tree: Wyoming, Binghampton, UNC, NCSt, Oregon St, Little Rock (is that it)) Further, he seemed to have some role in hooking them up with adidas.)

Sanderson might have fewer protogees, but I don't get the feeling he would do this sort of thing.

I think adidas is an institutional choice, not a coach choice, but I could be wrong.  Gabe Arnold loves adidas, but can't wear them bc Iowa is a "Nike school."

I find it pretty disappointing that Cael basically disregarded any acknowledgement for a former athlete that has been the most notable wrestler of all of the greats during Cael's tenure. I don't expect him to hand over his playbook of how to build a college program, but he could have at least said a number of things that would have come off a lot better. It really just sounded like "David Taylor left PSU and so we don't even say his name around here anymore." If that's actually how Cael's changed his relationship with an athlete that spent 15 years with him, that is really disappointing. I would hope he'd be happy for Taylor stepping into his own program, and just see him as respected competition, not a turncoat.

Jesus this is some next-level speculation here. Taking one interview where he says very little about someone and turning it into him not being happy for someone is a weird take.

For all we know, they could be very close and speak to each other on a weekly basis.

For what it's worth, Penn State has wrestled Wyoming, Binghamton, Oregon St (home & home), & Little Rock the past two years. Even did a home & home with Rider in 21-22 & 22-23.

I honestly don't understand why people have a problem with his answer to that question, other than putting a whole lot of weight into "well I think this is what he should say"

This is certainly true now, but I'm not sure when it became sacrosanct. OSU wrestling was still in adidas as late at 2014. Football had been in Nike since ? (Quick YouTube search suggests before 2000)

Doesn't matter. Further, I have absolutely no reason to believe what I wrote except my memory of shoes.

Both Anthony Cassar and Bo Nickal said it's great for wrestling on a Podcast.  You fellas, including you @Interviewed_at_Weehawken, are getting kooky.

What are the current and former PSU wrestler supposed to do?  Go on a goodwill press tour for DT?

Bo has also said the opposite on a podcast. He scoffed about it. So did C Star. It’s whatever really, they can say whatever they want.

Negative. What does it score on a scale from zero to Bo-Needs-A-Hobby?

Say what you will about PSU, but they have the dopest waffle parties and play the best defiant jazz I've ever heard. I try to live by their 9 Core Principles.
