This is the 2nd fooching time I've put money on Arnold this season and the coaches don't weigh him in. Ill get my money back obviously, but, as I said last time, I'm gonna miss out on the potential caliente dinero.

I don't like this move. Who knows, maybe Arnold is banged up. If not, too easy to construe this as a vote of no confidence. Hopefully the coaches can navigate that mental barb adequately

Brands said in a previous interview that they only have so many times they can use Ferrari while he is on RS so they plan on using him against the toughest guys possible (which is a backwards way of saying they were protecting Arnold's record while giving Ferrari important exposure)

Doubt it was Arnold's call.  Coaches have been influencing this

Everyone knows its not his call, like he did when he "called out" starocci. But sense that was either an attempt to strong arm his way into the dual, or (more likely) an attention grab he knew he wouldn't have to back up, I'm pretty sure he should get roasted some.

I mean the truth is Ferrari > Arnold and the Brands know this. But they are conceding that this year is a battle for second place so the marginal gain in starting Ferrari over Arnold isn’t worth burning a year of a Ferrari. It sucks for both Ferrari (who could make the NCAA finals this year) and for Arnold (who is being told in unsubtle terms that Ferrari is the “better matchup” against the elite wrestlers).

Rin Sakamoto weighed in for OKST?

Most interesting match of the night for me if it happens.  That kid can wrestle. Anyone know his history with folk?

your vapid analysis is really undermining the trolling dude.

Is this record protection, or just a case of knowing who’s better between Gabe and Angelo? How much does this affect Gabe’s confidence, he’s lost some big close matches and then gets benched vs the top competition plott and Carter. If he’s the guy for Iowa, give him the opportunity to face these guys. Even in a loss, he can fix things for future matches.

Agreed. Afaik Sakamoto has no history with folk besides his work in the room.

I don’t believe Angelo can beat Carter or Parker. You also know this

Ramos (or, rather, Manning) just ducked Caleb Smith to preserve his undefeated record. He weighed in and was warming up but didn't go.   No other word for it but "Duck".

Ramos and Smith split their matchups last year.  Smith won at CKLV and Ramos won in Big tens. Weird though that Ramos would "duck" on senior night, his last home match for Purdue.

The announcers tried to explain it away as teams having the flu right now lol.

I really hope arnold locks up low AA this year and can shop himself in the off season.  He's good enough to make a positive impact at a lot of teams.  For someone to be that gun shy, that to me says he's not a good fit for the vibe of the Iowa program.

Lol, you know you're getting old when you see Afaik and think to yourself, "that doesn't sound Japanese".  Took a few head scratches to realize it's an abbreviation.

I would really enjoy watching the better guy represent Iowa in the post season.

The only reason they wouldn't is if they were just determined to keep kennedy in the lineup.

If Arnold and Ferrari can't make 174, one has to hit the road unless one can go 197, but that seems like a stretch cause Arnold is 3'5 and Ferrari looked tiny against starocci.

Maybe Ferrari is adamant about wanting to redshirt?

I didn't mean there to be, but I'm rather behind on my tab-keeping of the goings on in various programs this year.  What am I missing?

If Ferrari beats Plott there are no Iowa fans who think his shirt gets pulled?

And how does Arnold feel knowing everyone thinks his back up is better than he is?
