Numerous small churches everywhere.

I was in Houston during the winter storm when the wonderful "christian" Joel Osteen locked the doors on his mega-scam, sorry, I mean mega-church to people who'd been forced out of their homes because "we had the carpets cleaned".  Well, that sounds like a good excuse to let people die of exposure: our carpets just got cleaned.

I watch that documentary on mega churches called, The Righteous Gemstones.  A fine group of people.  Bunch of rascals if you ask me.

Big church is worse.

Nah.  Church: Voluntary. Government: Mandatory.

Both exploit, cover up scandals, misinform, corrupt, dogmatic control, abuse power...

One impacts everyone negatively and one impacts those that opt-in.

At least with my tax money I see some things accomplished for the public good: schools, roads, police, etc. Money donated to a church, however, is quite different. I'd rather flush money down a toilet than give it to Joel Osteen and his ilk.

You can't lump all churches in with the mega church types like Joel Osteen. They are by far the minority. Obviously with your username you wouldn't donate a dime to a church so why pretend like that's ever been an option?

Churches spend their money trying to "save" people. Government actually puts the money to use, in general. Yah, we waste a lot on our military but for the most part the money is being well spent and going back to the people.

Churches also don't pay any taxes. The net result is that the rest of us get screwed with higher taxes.

It's not my username that prevents me from donating money to churches, it's my common sense doing that.

I remember that. What he did doesn't surprise me one bit. Pretty degusting. He might want to go back and do a little reading in the bible about the poor and those who are need.

Isn't that show about a bunch of charlatans fleecing the faithful?

Yes...and the characters on the flip side of that...the anti-church folks...I just picture your photo as being an actual character in the show...lol

If you didn't know, the show is a goofball comedy that sort of mocks the big churches and the anti-church folks...it is pretty funny.  Danny McBride is the main guy and writer of the show.

If it mocks the charlatans I may well have to check it out for myself!
