It's because of DEI policies or else this never would have happened. 🙄

Check out any thread on this on x.  Probably about 20% of the replies are saying it was intentional or because of a DEI hire

It was a training flight for the military helicopter. In one of the busiest flight areas in America you are having training flights at night. The say there are a large number of helicopters flights through that area all day and night. This does not sound like a smart thing to be doing.

OK, here is the deal.   What the heck is a military helicopter doing flying in an approach path of a commercial airport?   I've heard this was a normal training flight.    My guess is that the military training flights will change routes because of this. and they never should be flying at the altitude of commercial aircraft approaching to land.

The CRJ was on its glidepath to land.   The military helicopter flew right into that glidepath.   These are demarcated areas of space on approach to an airport.   Every airport has them.   That helicopter should never have been around aircraft coming in for landing, or holding to land etc.   They were warned by the tower.

Very sad, but hopefully these training flights will go somewhere else.

This is so sad. Just general observers can tell right away this was very poor practice of flying through flight paths of this airport. If you have to fly through the area you must be at 150 feet of altitude or less. You probably need to be out another mile from the airport or more to prevent this from happening. Just heard that the max ceiling height for flight in that area is 100 feet. i think they were at 500 feet. Why????

The commander in chief needs to be accountable. This involved a military helicopter, after all.

Can you explain why? It was a training flight for the helicopter. Max ceiling height for flight was 100 feet in that area. Helicopter was at 500 feet.

Wow. Even Trump admits that there's at least some blame on the helicopter: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/01/30/trump-blames-army-helicopter-dc-crash/78051726007/

Meanwhile, he also blames diversity programs. That's real leadership there.

No matter what anyone says. The persons at fault were in the helicopter. Both the Instructing pilot and the trainee knew there was a 100 foot maximum flight ceiling in that area. They were over 500 feet right in the flight path of planes trying to land.

Agree.  But @Tripnsweep was criticizing those that did that, and you called him scum.

His first freaking post on the matter mentioned DEI...he offered nothing more than to stir the turd and to take away from the tragedy...it is his and others...as you can see on here...their MO.  They spew stupid emotional comments that offer nothing to the conversation nor contain and sort of fact or logic...and quite frankly it takes away from the threads.

Ironically, the President and SECDEF brought up DEI in their official comments.

Are the POTUS and SECDEF scum, too?

Let’s see some hypocrisy. Justify their remarks.

Why would I justify their remarks...they are stupid remarks...I called Trip scum because he has a history of saying scummy things when there is a tragedy...well all the time really.

Nice try Le duke...swing and a miss.  If you had been paying attention, I am no Trumper nor think he is the greatest thing since slice bread...far from it..I didn't even vote for him.  Do I like some of his policies...absolutely!  Do I like ALL of them...absolutely not.  Again, I don't blindly hate or love someone just because of the political party they are affiliated with...bet you can't say the same.

Is there any doubt that Trump's admin will address this and do so with immediacy?  That is taking responsibility.   The training flight plans were no doubt established long before Trump was inaugurated.   Yet you guys are blaming him.    My guess is he will make sure military flights do not encroach on established commercial flight paths.  And he will do so relatively quickly.

The right wing hypocrisy never ends. They'll blame a Democratic President at the drop of a dime for ANYTHING that happens during that administration. Inflation at the beginning of Biden term is example #32,478. However, they'll always blame the previous administration if a Republican is in office.

Thy hypocrisy stinks to high heaven, as usual.

I think only @red viking is blaming him which I agree is dumb.  Others are just calling out that Trump criticized DEI in his remarks.  Here is the crew chief of the helicopter btw (RIP)

How is he going to do that? This was a gold cap bird. It picks up VIPs from commercial airports and moves them to various locations such as the Pentagon. Or, takes them from the Pentagon, Ft. Meade, Suffolk, etc. to DCA, or other large commercial hubs.

It has to go to large commercial airports such as DCA in order to do the job.
