No denouncement of a sex offender not deported tho.  So thanks.   Not a lefty I guess.

What 'sex offender'!? The guy on the Dr. Phil video said he wasn't.

All your puffery BS about a video that doesn't even back your BS.

Be careful where you put your flute next time you're at band camp.

Who exactly is a sex offender? If that was known why wasn't he arrested?

Actually it is not a criminal act. Merely being present without the right documents is a civil offense, akin to a traffic ticket.

An alien who illegally enters the country has committed a crime under U.S. law. Whether they stay or self-deport, they are considered to have committed a crime at the point of entry. However, overstaying a visa is a civil matter unless they commit a crime or willfully refuse to leave after being ordered to do so, at which point it can become criminal.

So the window has officially shifted from “violent criminals” to “criminal”.

I’m guessing there will be very few, if any, Russians deported by the Trump administration.

I'm responding to this.

I'm not attempting to shift anyone's conversation or narrative with my last comment.

I don't want to hear people deflect from the context of criminal illegal entry with callouts to the difference between a visa overstay and illegal entry.

I'm satisfied with the transparency on deporting illegal aliens.

I like how the government is communicating their priority and progress.

  • First: Violent Criminals and Threats to National Security
  • Second: Recently Arrived Illegal Crossers
  • Third: Visa Overstays and Other Immigration Violators

With collateral enforcement across for violators encountered.

----

I 100% support legal immigration and streamlining it.

If I'm king and you are already in the country illegally, your current immigration request is auto declined.  Go to the backend of the legal request line, and remain outside of the USA while you do.

I know there are exceptions to this... grey areas... but its largely black and white and is effectively being addressed in broad strokes.

So, what is a “recently arrived” illegal crosser?

1 year? 5 years? 10 years?

Are you suggesting that you don’t support deporting people that have long-established families, jobs, etc. here, if they’ve been here for 1, 5, 10 years?

To my research, short term implies immediacy for less than 14 days and expedited for less than 2 years.

There is no standard statute of limitations for deportation. But after 10 years, the Attorney General may cancel removal of, and adjust to the status of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, an alien who is inadmissible or deportable from the United States if the alien-

  • (A) has been physically present in the United States for a continuous period of not less than 10 years immediately preceding the date of such application;
  • (B) has been a person of good moral character during such period;
  • (C) has not been convicted of an offense under section 1182(a)(2), 1227(a)(2), or 1227(a)(3) of this title, subject to paragraph (5); and
  • (D) establishes that removal would result in exceptional and extremely unusual hardship to the alien's spouse, parent, or child, who is a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
