This guy is on a wild ride.

He starts the year 3-5 with some bad losses. Only one of the five wrestlers who beat him are ranked by Intermat. And in three of the five he gave up bonus points.

But with the New Year there are new beginnings. He has ripped off four straight wins over ranked wrestlers since the turn of the year, including the pinfall over #4 (for now) Spratley yesterday.

As a result WrestleStat has him ranked #7 in spite of his 7-5 record.

Was he dealing with something at the start of the season? Or is this just his New Year's resolution?

Well and maybe as opposed to the other 3 at 125 Sprat did not wrestle smart.  Sprats a 3rd period goer.  Its first match of the dual for a kid coming down from 133 just weighing in.  Sprats building rt end of 1st but trys to tilt for back points and gets caught.  He had a lot of match left to win that and got in a hurry against a dangerous kid.  And no there was no fictitious pinfall he just flat out pinned Sprat.

He was really really good in hs then was at a community college for two years I believe. I think its weight management thats his main issue. He beat Poulin twice last year and Kaylor so hes on the level I think it's just managing the cut. He did get hurt in his first match at NCAA's last year it looked like he was struggling to walk not sure if that carried into this season or not he wrestled his second match so I don't think it was crazy serious.

So you are saying I should lose some weight?

You and me both.

Well that explains it. Yes, all of the loses were at 133.

It explains some, but you're right about how dramatic the difference is.  I feel like there's got to be some other contributing factor, like maybe he was battling injury, or maybe he just did a massive level-jump. Credit to him and his coaches.
