More swimming is better swimming.

You are catching me at a very melancholy time. No heats in the morning. Only finals in the afternoon. Sure, I get the 1500 final. And what then? How will I make it four more years?

Is the 1500 like cycling in that you can get a stupid song stuck in your head?  I found the heats interesting but can see how boredom might wreck some.

I did a lot of work on fractions when I swam 1500. I am 1/2 done.  Now I am 751/1500ths done...

I've found math becomes difficult when my brain goes into oxygen deprivation.  Extreme Vo2 max athletic push kind've like the feeling in altitude chamber going up to 14k.

Holy shit. My heart is pounding from watching the 1500. Bobby Freakin Finke wire to wire (the complete opposite of his normal strategy) absolutely blitzes and burns out the field. New world record in the process. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Hungary vs USA in Water Polo coming up!  Is this more of a bourbon or beer viewing event?  There's gonna be swimming so it should be glorious.

I see Artistic Swimming: Acrobatic Routine is on 3pm this afternoon.  Is that more of a white wine event?   🍷

Somewhere someone asked something about US swimmers swimming for other countries. The bigger trend in swimming is foreign swimmers coming to the US to train, mainly through NCAA swimming.

Six foreign athletes training in the US won 8 golds, 2 silver, and 4 bronze for 14 total medals (2.33 per swimmer). That is 5% of actual medals awarded. Relays bump actual medals up above what gets counted in a medals table. But the only foreign swimmer training in the US to win a relay medal was Marchand. So in this case, only the denominator is increased.

The denominator is 219 (awarded to 125 swimmers, or 1.752 per swimmer). The US earned 69 total medals (again, actual medals) by 34 swimmers, or 2.03 per swimmer.
