Seems like there were a lot of upsets this year. Does anyone know how many returning all Americans didn’t make the podium?

Returning AAs who missed the year with inj, Ventresca, Cannon, Shane Van Ness , Sasso, Loew

3 NJ guys here and foca and poz losing in the R12 led to a real down year in terms of AAs for NJ , should rebound nicely next year

With the extra covid year still out there, I think the depth this year is at an all time high at most weights.  A little tougher to get to AA and its is almost always very tough at every weight even without that factor.

There were 69 Previous Placewinners in this year’s field

26 of them DNP (37% of returning placers DNP)

Including 3x All-American Brock Mauller

52 returning placers from 2023
15 of them DNP (28% of returning placers from last year alone)
Including returning finalist Matt Ramos.

Kaylor as well

Kaylor hasn't AA'd for 2 years. I think that ship has sailed.

Still a returning former all American.  The ship doesn’t sail if you are an AA - you just are.
