Devil fan here, but is Larkin really classified as a freshman? He has to be at least 23 years old. Wrestled this year, didn't wrestle last, wrestled a couple of matches the year before, redshirted/grey shirted before that.

No shit, I stated that. My point was if you're going to question the number of matches Larkin had to be a 1 seed, then the same holds true for Forrest with even fewer.

5-0 at 157 in the conference I believe. By comparison I think at 133 Jax Forrest was 4-0 in conference.

It's only been a few years for Northwestern playing in the soccer stadium while the football stadium is renovated.

Kyler hasn't wrestled in a month and isn't mentioned in the preview for this weeks matches. Kaleb has also missed the last several duals. Of course finding any info locally on ASU wresting is impossible.

Well he he's only wrestled 2 matches in three years. I think he could have taken either. Seems the year you qualify for the trials could be used as an Olympic redshirt, but wrestling is so f'd up with these guys trying to hang around until retirement age its hard to tell.

I thought last year was an Olympic red shirt year. If so that was a waste since the trials were before school and the season started. I think Papa Larkin pulls the strings and wanted his boys wrestling together as long as possible and to be as old as possible.

Is that even an option? From what I could find the next portal window for wrestling isn't until April.

The Olympics took place before last school year started. He knew months before that that he didn't make the team. He was no where close to being an alternate, so no reason there. Kaleb did have hip surgery, but that was after his freshman year, well before the Olympic trials.

Dad's a die hard Devil and has a lot input if not influence in the program. If the Valiant Prep kids start having some success in D1 that may increase. Kaleb has essentially been at ASU for 3 years already; gray shirt, Freshman and whatever the hell he did last year. Doesn't seem like he's too interested in getting on the mat in college. I head dad say that he was healthy and working out with the guys in the room. Kyler took a gray shirt as well. Not sure why these guys don't want to move on to college after graduating high school.

For what its worth, Figs tweeted this week that he isn't going anywhere. Not sure how Vasquez has been at ASU 5 years and gets hurt almost every year. I think he's finished one season. Is he even eligible for another year?

Penn St actually returns more points than Nebraska scored this year. Assuming the 3 vacant sports score some points, they are still probably 2-3 guys ahead.

You lose to AA's to Iowa and by the end of the year 5 projected starters were injured and not in the lineup. ASU doesn't have the depth of the top tier teams so that's hard to overcome. Ad in a subpar NCAA from Figs and it was left up to Schultz to carry things. 4/5 injured starters can return (Vasquez was the only senior I believe) ad Manville to the lineup with Figueroa, Ruiz, and Ysaquirre and if healthy it should be a better year.

As much as the Devils need help in the upper weights, I'd rather suffer than have a clown like that on the team.
