Iowa @ Okla. State (2/25)

How do you think this dual plays out? Lots of matchups that could go either way.

Here are my predictions w/ brief explanations

125: Ayala dec. Spratley (3-0)

Spratley has looked great as of late whereas Ayala has slowed down a bit. I still believe Ayala is a slightly better wrestler and his resume shows it.

133: Fix maj dec. Schriever/Teske (3-4)

Fix majored Teske last year and Teske has had an up-and-down season. Fix likely bonuses both wrestlers

141: Woods dec. Jamison (6-4)

This one could be 12-5 Jamison or 4-1 SV Woods. Jamison is strong and hard to score on, however, Woods (when healthy) is one of the best in the country. Assuming he's healthy, he should have the edge

149: Rathjen dec. Williams/Alvarez (9-4)

I've been impressed with Rathjen this year, solid technique, and notable wins over good guys. Williams has been very up and down this season, maybe something bothering him mentally. Williams could surprise us but I believe it's likely that Rathjen will get the win

157: Travis dec. Franek (9-7)

Lots of people will probably disagree with me here. Teague's offense is very underrated, he gets in on everyone's legs, and his defense has been impressive too, especially for being undersized. I believe Teague's attacks will pay off and he will win a close decision.

165: Olejnik dec. Caliendo (9-10)

This one I am not as confident in. I think people have figured Izaak out and his main attacks, however, I think he gets the lone takedown of this match and wins a close one. Just basing this on their wins this year. I believe Olejnik's resume is a little more impressive this year.

174: Kennedy dec. Thompson (12-10)

Thompson could pull off the upset considering his solid defense and big move potential but I think Kennedy is too technically sound and will be able to finish his shots.

184: Plott maj dec. Arnold/Riggins (12-14)

Plott has put up a lot of points this season against quality competition. I think he racks up the scoring in an important dual, even against Arnold.

197: Glazier dec. Surber (15-14)

Surber has been battling injuries all season and has not looked great. Glazier has produced an impressive season so far.

285: Doucet dec. Hill/Kueter (15-17)

Not much to say here. Doucet likely comes out on top by a point or so.

Final: 15-17 (OSU)

Arnold keeps it to a decision. Caliendo beats Olejnik.

Iowa takes it 18-13, book it

Ayala dec. Spratly 3-0 IA

Fix md. Iowa 4-3 OSU

Woods dec. Jamison 6-4 IA

Rathjen dec. Williams 9-4 IA

Travis dec. Franek 9-7 IA

Olejnik dec. Caliendo 10-9 OSU

Kennedy dec. Thomspon 12-10 IA

Plott dec. Arnold 13-12 OSU (Plott Majors Riggins 14-12 OSU, if he goes)

Glazier dec. Surber 15-13 IA

Doucer dec. Hill 16-15 OSU.

I got it 5 matches to 5 with the only bonus at 133 unless Riggins goes at 184.  Lot's of toss ups, but give me the home team.    I won't be shocked if I am wrong on 125, 149, 157, 165, 174, 197, or HWT.

Sounds about right, gonna be a good one, sell out should be ~14k there.  Would be fun to start with a Spratpin kind've like the Piccpin at the last sellout!

Was that the last sellout? 2020 - 4 years ago? That really defines the lack of competition in the Big 12.

I'll be rooting for the good guys, but the guys in black will win.

125 Ayala

133 Fix

141 Jamison

149 Rathjen

157 Franek

165 Caliendo

174 Kennedy

184 Plott tech

197 Glazier

HWT Doucet

Final score: Hawkeyes 18 Pokes 14

Picked Jamison over Woods because Woods doesn't seem to be wrestling all that well lately. The rest were straightforward, but I wouldn't be surprised if Fix won by major (his lack of aggression makes me think he'll win 11-4 or something like that), and I wouldn't be surprised if Plott just majored Riggens instead of teching him. I wouldn't be shocked if Surber actually beat Glazier, although Glazier is having a great year. Surber is squirrelly as hell.

How so, they just had 10k at the last B12 match, how many programs get 10k+?

Plott's not gonna tech Arnold hence why betting coaches will plug him in.  But since been reported here its all Arnold decision, does anyone know if Gabe chose to get on the bus?

Oh wow, I'd love to see that match. I can't imagine Arnold not wanting to step on the mat with Plott. He's athletic enough to give Plott problems too. I thought Plott was wrestling Riggens?

If it's Arnold I'll go with Plott by decision, but it will be a great battle.

Im surprised so many people are picking Ayala to win. Spratley has looked really good as of late while Ayala has been battling an illness. I still give the edge to Ayala but would not be surprised at all if Spratley wins

Ayala is more of a known quantity, perhaps? Spratley has been wrestling well and has a chance.

Its 125 so who really knows.    I debated picking the upset for the reasons you listed but picked Ayala because I think he is a tier above, if there is such a thing as tiers at 125 this year.

I haven't watched enough wrestling this year...however, Spratley looks hard to take down and that's Ayala's bread n butter. So whoever has the better rideouts is likely going to win. I highly doubt there will be a major decision

Not televised in my area - I’m bummed because we’ve been spoiled via BiG10 matches week after week and now I have to find something else to excite me over the next few weeks!

A lot of the duals are posted on youtube the day after the event for the big duals.

No matter who wins, there’s going to be early and hard brick throws on both sides that are just part of the standard tantrums and not because there was ever a chance to overturn the call.

Then some yelling, finger pointing, head shaking…the usual. Not a brick left for the dual as we head into 141. Follow that up with some shit show controversial calls, and we all walk away unsatisfied with the result of the dual just in time to wrap up the season and be angry at the seeds heading into the post season.

Will they even have replay?   Are bricks always allowed in duals.

I wish Okstate wrestled in the B1G. I’m glad we got Mizzou and ISU looks good again. But I firmly believe Okstate would be the solid #3 team in the B1G for duals, and a bump in recruitment would have us in better contention for Nattys. Plus it would bring TV eyes if anything else.

He's definitely on the trip they left Iowa city a few hours ago.
