There is a path for nebraska. Slim but there is.

Smith W

Van dee W

Hardy W

Ridge W and bonus

Robb W

Mesenbrik W

Carter W

Pinto W

Brooks W

Kerk W bonus

18 Huskers 13 Penn state

There's about 6 weight classes that could go either way.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how (relatively) well Nebraska stacks up against PSU.

Obviously, it's a long shot but the above could happen. Unfortunately, I think it is more likely that PSU goes 9-1

Will the ref call pins and takedown for red?  Thought not ... 9-1.

I agree. Light weights will be key for Nebraska.

Certainly the first three weights are toss ups. Wrestlestat has all three going to PSU, but I do not see that happening.

Wrestlestat also has Kasak beating Lovett which would be a major upset. I do not see that happening either.

The only match wrestlestat has going Nebraska's way is the other clear toss up to me, Pinto v Truax.

I think Nebraska gets 1 or 2 of the first three weights, Lovett, and Pinto making it 7-3 to PSU, maybe 6-4, but I think 7-3.

If Nagao can do more than initiate a scramble when he gets to the legs, he’ll beat Van Dee. I’m sure he’s been getting a lot of practice in that. I think those adjustments will start bearing fruit.

125: Toss up, but I’ll be generous to Nebby: 0-3 Nebraska
133: Nagao 3-3
141: BB 6-3
149: Lovett 6-6
157: Haines 9-6
165: Mesenbrink 13-6
174: Starocci 17-6
184: Pinto 17-9
197: 21-9
285: 25-9

Haines is no guarantee against Robb.  mesenbrik and taylor is a very interesting style matchup

Indeed Haines is not a guarantee, but given what we saw in Iowa last week, and that Robb is 2-4 in his last 6, Haines is a heavy favorite. It would be a major upset if Robb were to beat him.

As for Mesenbrink, I think he is one of those guys to whom his opponent's style does not matter. I admittedly do not know much about Taylor, though.

Robb took levi to the ropes last year with a questionable call being the difference in one match. Taylor is very athletic, he's under sized (actually a 157 pounder) but very good on his feet.

Haines just obliterated Franek, at Iowa. Robb has fallen off a cliff. Massive edge Haines.

Taylor isn’t even in the same league as Mesenbrink.

This is not the Robb of last year, 2-4 in his last six? If he gets the Haines from last Friday, it could be a struggle in keeping it to a decision. I hope Taylor is good on his feet and really gets after him, MM will tech him instead of just a MD

125, 141, 157, and 184 are the toss ups, imo.

I don't think Robb over Haines would be a huge upset, but I am probably giving Robb a mulligan on his 4 match losing streak and think he is closer to the guy we saw last year and early this year.  Haines is the pick and favorite tho.

I know Van Dee just beat Ragusin but Nagao seems like a style problem as Nagao does the things Van Dee does but better.  To me that would be a bigger upset than Robb over Haines.

Taylor still seems undersized for 165.  Great win last week but that was the first time Amine had been on the mat in a while.

Idk. I don't see Nago being able to ride van dee. Van dee is tough to take down. I see it a 1 take down match

I am going 8-2.  26-6 PSU, with some very competitive matches and PSU wining most of the toss ups at home.

Now here’s a more reasonable and likely result.

Ragusin rode Van Dee for 1:57 seconds and Nagao is better on top.  It could be a 1 TD match but I think Nagao is better on the mat at this point in their careers.
