It’s about damn time…

Bob Marley?   Funny story, my brother in law was a dentist, now retired.   He is a classical music enthusiast and always had that playing in his office from the local Classical music station.   He was our dentist so we saw him every 6 months or so.   One day I hear reggae playing which I thought was nice.  After awhile I couldn't stand it any longer and asked him why he was playing reggae rather than classical.   His answer surprised me.   He said for a change of pace, he chose reggae.   Because how can you be anything but happy or content listening to reggae.    My jaw dropped.   I guess it was easier for him to look in there after that!!

Useless story but thought I'd share.

Not useless at all, and that’s just it. The music is very uplifting.  We listen to it in training some, cuz it makes you want to move. I see kids starting to get dogged down in practice, throw on some up tempo reggae….and watch the pace change.

Most (there’s always exceptions) of the lyrics are positive messages.

Debut day, and while Valentine’s Day is nice, four days ago was his anniversary with the Queen, would have been a nice release day as well.  But Valentine’s Day it is and mine is a warrior who embodies the true spirit of ‘One Love’.

Be good to ‘em fellas.

Great movie. Will probably go again this weekend with the kids and more.  Mostly about the time from when he got shot in his home prior to Smile Jamaica. ->his self imposed exhile to London and making Exodus -> back to Jamaica for One Love. In there are flashbacks relaying his relationship with Rita. It just barely dabbles in his childhood and come up in music. The story is less about the times in Jamaica and how his poverty affected him, and more about what he wanted to do with his music. Did a great job telling that story.   No “huh I didn’t know that” moments in the movie for me but really enjoyed how the story was told.

Having been to Nine Mile and Trenchtown I would have liked to have seen a more life long story, but like I said for the story it wanted to tell it was really good.

This is coming from a non-Marley fan: one of the best movies I've seen  I loved it, and will definitely be exploring some of his ballads.

A warning,  though: marijuana use is prevalent throughout.
