Mizzou wins big. No Rocky today.

IMG_0245.jpeg

I'm doing a preview of ILLINOIS and Missouri. Some questions for Mizzou fans:

1. Can we expect Rocky Elam?

2. Has Kade Moore won 133 over Zeke Seltzer?

3. Does anybody actually call St. Louis "The Lou"?

4. Noah Surtin is now 8-0; does that surprise you? Please explain.

1. Plan is for Rocky to go

2. Wouldn't say Moore has won the spot, but expecting him to go. Seltzer has had weight cut struggles so far but I do think he has a high ceiling.

3. Maybe? I don't think locals do lol.

4. I don't think so. I've been high on Surtin since he came into the lineup and think he has a high ceiling. He was banged up last year, but talking to him again this year I think he looks like he's jumped levels. He's great from top, has big moves from neutral, but really improved on his neutral scrambling and leg attacks this year.

Do you know if the dual will be streaming anywhere?

I asked because they are calling the match "Mizzou in the Lou." It took me some time to put the pieces together and figure it out. I make fun of that in the preview. I'll link to the preview here tomorrow.

I get it, though. Missouri wants to own St. Louis like ILLINOIS wants to own Chicago.

Streaming, streaming, streaming, that is the question. There's no streaming listed by either website. That would be a crying shame.

Thanks for all the responses. I wish that I was as couth and gentlemanly as you awful and horribly evil Missourifolk.

Anyone know why Hendrickson didn’t wrestle?

He went to Reno TOC and won it beat Heindselman OK in the finals by major

About that Missouri - Air Force score: Ouch! I watched Hendrickson's match at the U23 finals, and what happened to his knee was a crime. He gimped through the rest of that match to pick up the Gold, but I thought for sure he would be out a couple of months for a repair job. I was astonished that he wrestled in the NWCA All-Star classic.

On another note, we've published a preview of the ILLINI/Mizzou dual up at The ILLINI Wrestling Blog and Forum and Beyond. Thanks to KCMO2, we've purchased a month-long subscription to UFC Fight Pass for $9.99 plus tax. Missouri is a huge favorite, and a favorite to win by a lot. Wrestlestat.com predicts a 29-6 win for the bad guys. Still, there will be a lot of great matches, including Luffman versus Elam and Ruth versus Mocco. Moreover, some of the other matches should be very close.

Mizzou website says it will be shown on UFC Fight Pass.

Thanks - I wish they could all decide to use one provider... Flo, ESPN+, UFC all just to watch wrestling now.

I'm thankful we can watch wrestling. I remember when we couldn't...

3. Does anybody actually call St. Louis "The Lou"?

I lived in St. Louis for a few years a little more than a decade ago.

The only people calling it "The Lou" or any version of that were the people in charge of trying to attract tourists (or their PR firms anyway). I'm sure they thought it was catchy. I thought it was stupid, because the Lou (loo) isn't an appealing thing for most people. The crappy town jokes ensued.

ESPN with D1 national finals on tape delay with entire periods of matches cut out.  Maybe even entire matches?

Sad days indeed. Much like the thirty seconds of the period we would get for the Olympics back in the day...

St Louis has bbq?

St Louis style spareribs is a cut you can get. Square cut with the brisket removed most of the time. KC leaves the brisket on. Spent most of my life on the STL side growing up. Visited KC a lot while stationed in Leavenworth. To be honest, both are just decent. I have lived in Texas since 2003. Neither come close to Texas BBQ.

Agreed. Texas is undisputed king. I actually like Carolina, but I’m an unabashed mustard fan.
