I am looking for kneepad recommendations. I am just coaching mat club and possibly working out with the high school team, but I have a knee that is not taking kindly to the repeated impacts of hitting the mat. I wasn’t thrilled with the selection at my local sporting goods store so I thought I would check here before ordering one online. Thanks.

I prefer gardening knee pads with velcro straps. That way after I get taken down and crawl out out of bounds to put my hand on the floor outside the mat I can maximize my regrouping time. Tie one shoe, then the other. Pull up my each of my socks. Pull up my knee pads then adjust the velcro. That's an easy 60 seconds of lung time. If I'm still tired then I stay on the mat and wave to the trainer to start the injury clock + bring me a sip of water.

I loved Brute's kneepads back in the day and still have mine. Most wrestling kneepads are pretty good. Cliff Keen Impacts or Matman Aggressors might be what you're looking for to protect your kneecaps. I guess you could even pick up volleyball kneepads if you really want to prioritize impact protection over stability. They might also be easier to find at sporting goods stores and probably cheaper as I assume they are sold in pairs.
