Shapiro had a close one in quarters.  Read that he had to score 2x in last minute to win 6-4.  Going off of memory on reading that an hour or so ago.

Then he handles the Russian cadet world champ 8-0.  Saw scramble for first points.  Felt a bit bad for the Russian’s right leg …

Just watched the close Shapiro match.  Got first TD.  Opponent got in deep, Shapiro tried to tie it up but in process gave up two exposures.  2-4.  Got TD with <1 min left to be up on criteria and then got another TD.

Why does this forum and its users not care about freco season. College tab is always more busy than international. Even when worlds are happening

Because more people in the US are familiar with folkstyle and also have unhealthy obsessions with the universities they attended or support.

I think it is a very healthy obsession with folkstyle and high schools and universities. between ORTC's and colleges  America is doing quite well in freestyle.

With this wicked awesome start it begs the question what year was the USAs best U20 worlds performance ever? *knocks on wood*

Anyone else looking forward to Christian Carroll against Masoumi? Personally, I cannot wait for that match. Will be a great test for Carroll against a very tough Iranian who crushed Nick Feldman last year and also beat Zillmer at the World Cup.

Our JR's won the team title in 2017 when our Seniors also won the team title and our Cadets were Silver.

it's a little difficult to decipher 'best' as the team point system changed a few years back.

Who are the coaches for the team?

James Green and individual coaches. Often times in Cadets it's their HS coach. At Juniors it's almost entirely one of their college coaches.

James +

Lilledahl = Cornell Robinson (Wyoming Seminary)

Bouzakis + Mendez = Jagger and Stieber

Shapiro = Grey and Yianni

Mesenbrink = not sure. probably Casey Cunningham

Singleton = Adam Hall

Berge = Damion Hahn

Darrah = Cornell Robinson + (i think) Deakin

Camden McDanal = his father

Christian Carroll = not sure. probably Chris Perry

I think Carroll can medal.  I think he's not close to Masoumi.  I think he's close to Feldman.  I think Carroll gets teched, and then comes back to wrestle for Bronze.

You are probably right. Last year Feldman was completely outclassed against Masoumi. That said, if Carroll is truly the #1 P4P in the 2023 recruiting class, he should be able to hang tough.

That said, Masoumi is a top 10 guy in the world right now and would be in that Iranian lineup if it were not for Zare.
