It seems likely.  Funny, he was a Cornell coach.  Also amusing is that Vito did the same number of years, and could have even done one more.  I guess Vito "got a life" and Kem didn't.

Arujau was out of eligibility.

Ivies allowed 2024 Olympic redshirts, correct?

Not sure how that relates to Arujau, who graduated in 2023.  In any case, in the Ivy League there really is no such thing as an "Olympic red shirt," just as there is no such thing as a generic red shirt.  If you are enrolled, your eligibility clock is running. In addition, you have five years after graduating HS to get your four Ivy years of eligibility; that was modified to four in *six* due to the lost COVID year.

Uh... you may want to re-check your dates.

The other stuff may be accurate as he did he 4 in 6.

there absolutely is an olympic redshirt in the ivies. arujau, yianni and dean all took 2020 off because of their finish at the previous US Open. the season happened, only the NCAAs got canceled.

Is [Kemerer's 7 years] a lot different than: [Vito's 7 years]?

I will admit that on reflection there wasn't as much difference between Arujau and Kememer (yes, it was Kemerer) than I had thought. Kemerer was only ~6 months older than Arujau when he graduated HS and 7=7 except in freestyle.

That said, it was novel in the immediate aftermath of COVID for Kemerer to come back for a second senior year. Arujau basically had a long delayed sophomore year after his 2020 Olympic redshirt and the cancelation of the 2021 season by the Ivies. Plus, Koll wasn't even there anymore! So Kemerer is more egregious on crtieria.

There is not.  It is called "not being enrolled."  Call it what you will.

Student-athletes have eligibility for no more than four (4) seasons of intercollegiate athletic competition in any sport, which ordinarily must be used within five (5) calendar years from their first full-time matriculation at any collegiate institution. However, under Ivy League rules student-athletes are ordinarily expected to use their eligibility during their first four years of enrollment. The Ivy League does not allow "redshirts" (i.e., sitting out a season of competitive play to extend eligibility). If you are enrolled at Cornell and medically able to participate during your season, you are considered to have used a season of eligibility regardless of whether you compete. In limited circumstances (i.e., medical hardships, leaves of absences) there are exceptions to this rule. If you are considering a 5th year, please consult the Compliance Office for more information on the process and to assess whether you qualify for a 5th Year Waiver.

Yianni, Arujau, and Max Dean all were not enrolled.  The Ivy League didn't care *why* they were not enrolled; all they cared about was whether they were enrolled (and thus using a year of eligibility) or whether they were still within the "four in five (or COVID six)" rule.

Come on. Read what you posted yourself more critically:

The "Olympic redshirt" is a leave of absence just like you can get a "medical redshirt" retroactively. You are splitting hairs and I don't think you are right definitionally. Everyone at the time called it an Olympic redshirt because it extended their eligibility.

Didn’t Kemerer get a graduate degree?  If he did and Vito didn’t, I’d say Vito is more “egregious”

Ok I guess I missed the joke.  Well people that complain about “7th year guys!” obviously care.   I think it’s great personally if it allows guys to get paid/get free school while getting a graduate degree (which I know isn’t an option at Cornell).  Unless you go to Michigan and take some Social Work classes and don’t actually finish the degree.
