Oh, I know.

Similar, but not the same: UofM's Anthony Biondo wrestled 145 as a High School senior in 2005-06 and 197 as a Collegiate senior in 2010-11.

Didn't Tommy Rowlands wrestle 103 as a Freshmen and then Wrestle HWT ending up as a...I THOUGHT he was 3X finalist, going 1/2/1 and then a 6th when he got injured in the Semis and MFF to 6th. Something along those lines. At a time when Garrett Lowney(the Olympic Champ....in Greco) was in the weight, as well as other athletic, smaller HWTs and then Mocco?

I'd be curious how many 103 LB Freshmen end up as HWTs.

Probably more common for someone to wrestle 103 in HS with Middle School Wrestlers eligible in some weights, but even still, pretty impressive growth spirt.

Cal Poly just cut its swimming & diving programs. Fairly deep cut, about 60 athletes total. The AD said the dept is in rough financial shape (as is the university) and the upcoming House settlement and pay to play stuff will set them back nearly another half mil per year. He also shut down fundraising, saying it's not a viable option. Hopefully wrestling's in the uni's good graces. Cal Poly has I think 20 of the NCAA minimum 14 sports, and wrestling is not a required sport in their primary conferences (Big West/Big Sky) or the Pac-12.

The CSUs (which Poly is one of) are either cutting entire athletic departments (Solano State) or programs all over.

San Francisco State recently announced they are dropping baseball, womens soccer and indoor track n field. The wrestling program, which contributes many coaches to the high school ranks up and down the state, has been close to being cut somewhat recently, and was given a hard look.

It's still something of a surprise that Humboldt brought back their program (dropped 40+ years ago at the DIII level and resurrected this past year as DII).

Hoping both make it out of this.
