I'm not a fan of Ilhan Omar at all (I've mentioned this many times here.) I dislike her and would prefer someone better in her spot. I've voted against her repeatedly - yet she still has managed to stay in office.

But what was posted above is garbage. And the way she is being attacked currently is also garbage - particularly the timing with the upcoming midterms.

The DOJ being weaponized to attack Trump's political enemies/targets is not OK. Even if it is against someone who I personally dislike and would like to see gone.

Take off your Blue glasses - and your Red glasses - and see it for what it really is.

(Or not. Some of you aren't serious about discussion. You only want to stir things up and cause friction. We see you. And we care little about what you post.)

Honest question, cuz I don't know much about Ilhan Omar outside of politics, why do you all think she is a bad person?

But but but but but but.

No I’m consistent.  I don’t think anyone should be judged by what their parents did.  MAGA does, but only when it’s convenient for their argument.

Of course in this case we don’t even know if her father did anything wrong.  I will let it play out to see if there is anything to these allegations, but I’m not holding my breath.   I do think the fact they are only going after her father is evidence there is no credibility to the brother allegations.  And obviously we all know raiding her house because of paperwork her father filled out like 20something years ago is clearly political theater.

No.  Like I said, I don’t judge people by their parents.   I’m consistent.  You’re not.

Whoa there scooter.

To say that someone you don't know isn't a good person is flat out bad.

Be a better person than that.

Don't be a dick. It's a discussion forum.

Just discuss like a normal human sitting across the table.

A scheme that was laid out in one of the many articles about Ilhan on Powerline, or maybe in a linked article, claimed that Ilhan’s father didn’t qualify for refugee status to the U.S., so he glommed on to another Somali who had received a visa.  He claimed to be related to the man and used his last name, Omar, to get one of those family tree visas, while his real name was Elmi.  There’s some vagueness as to whether Elmi actually attained naturalization, but if these claims are true, it’s evident that it was fraudulent and it wouldn’t matter how old Ilhan was, everything about her presence here would be the result of fraud.  What is also obvious is, is that she knew it the whole time.  Another thing it brings up is that her second husband, the one suspected of being her brother, was named Elmi.

Your sensitivity to who commits fraud and the severity at which it should be treated with - is certainly a choice.

President of the United States - no problem...

An 8 year old (without decision making autonomy) who's family was fleeing a war torn country and subsequently spent 4 years in a refugee camp- throw the book at her!

Interesting.  Somali naming practices are quite a bit different than what we are used to in the US, unless they choose to follow western customs.  I encourage people to look into them.  I once met a Somali Princeton grad named Muhammad Mohammed (two different spellings) and his kids had a different last name due to their traditions.

Those same 8 yr olds that you’re ok with having the autonomy to decide they’re not a boy or girl????

ilan was only 8, she had no idea what was happening!

how dare you not let your 8 yr old decide what sex they are.

-no problem….
