I don’t know you personally but I know how your responses comes off and nothings going to come out of that. Guys that are “something” don’t engage like that. My worlds a little different I know but I know SEALS, Force Recon guys and absolute legit guys I’ve worked with over my career that show far more humility in how they speak to those who don’t know what they’re talking about. Don’t get me wrong there’s some douches but there’s lessons learned there…

Room Guy Posted July 16 Author Posted July 16 Lots of thoughts about Greco here. Again, big props to all the athletes and coaches that are still doing the thing and striving for greatness. It just seems as though they are not really supported by USA Wrestling in a way that would promote greatness. In the past they did some new stuff like bring in Momir, the Bulgarian guy, NMU, etc. Now that stuff is gone or on the fritz and some new ideas and actions need to happen. Its not ok to just state the many reasons and be ok with them. The fact there is a final X with no Greco disenfranchises it for sure. One other thing I think no one talks about now is I think our guys are just not strong enough. Greco lifts, etc. are a skill honed over time, and our guys are strong in a different way. The new rules basically require immediate strong actions to take place. No longer is the American style of hard hand fighting rewarded. Now, you have to get to a strong technical hold and get there fast, or are penalized. Back in the day you could grind, get hit for a passivity, fight the gut wrench off, and keep the score close. That is not the case now. This is America, its not ok to be ok with the state of the program as it stands now. These athletes and coaches deserve more.

Emelin Bammatov Lalaev Grigorev bunch old guys who have not competed internationally in several years who are former age level medalists... as far as Karelin, can anyone say that 14 years, 9 world golds and 3 Olympic golds with a silver as a last match is a short career???
