To add a few

Pretty much it. Seth Mendoza looked great. I put him in national title conversations in a stacked weight.

Danny Heiser looks absolutely dominant. I think he beats Burton. Potential OW?

Ezekiel Witt was pretty disappointing

Kody Routledge had a really nice day beating Will Denny and Mac Crosson

Asher Cunningham MFF out of the tournament. It looked like he landed on his head during his match with Sullivan Ramos. Hope he’s ok.
My pick to the challenge tournament was Ladd Holman at 97. He went 0-2. Oof

Good shout on Heiser, Really good tournament for Mizzou overall! I am still taking Burton I think he has high AA potential at a down 174 again next year. Routledge seems to shut it down against Dee, not sure if that was more dee's doing or a familiarity thing but that match looked more like the open version that was too selective in my opinion.

A future Dee Lockett/Melvin Miller match would be absolute hell 😭

I get why you'd say that in general from Lockett's standpoint in folk, but there's very little in Miller's matches that have said he isn't active or is boring.  Being exhausted from a rapid fire tournament isn't a shocker in most cases...

He won 10-0, 8-6, and 10-8.

Brock Mantanona was up 2-1, hit his head off Cressell’s knee, went down 7-2, then dug deep to win 10-10

Cressell will be a legit high AA threat for UNI this year

I mean it probably be fun toward the end, but I think it be a lot of sitting and waiting

Last year it seemed to be a 5 way convo about these young heavyweights. Ross and Merill seem to have separated themselves.

It’s sad. Mocco and Bechtold were really close. Now it’s

Merrill/Ross island

Tier gap

In Bo’s last 3 matches, he’s given up the first 4 points to Tyler Dekraker, Kellen Wolbert (both at the Open), and Clinton Shepherd today. He went on to tech or pin each of them.

I can’t post on Twitter right now, I don’t know why. So enjoy my drafts

74KG:

Melvin Miller takes match one 5-0. Robideau couldn’t get anything going at all, he never came close to scoring.

57KG:

Isaiah Cortez handles Grey Burnett to a tune of 5-1 to take match one.

The result is reversed for 74kg. Robideau took match 1, 5-0.

Oh wow, I have no idea how I watched that whole match and thought Miller won. I genuinely think I’m hallucinating

They had the scoreboard wrong for that match...had Miller and Robideau swapped in terms of red/blue.

Robideau looks fantastic, Thought James looked like the better guy in the lockett match despite the score being as close as it was, wonder if Dee can up his volume a bit. Thought Dreshuan held position very well but he was not getting to legs at all. I would imagine the gameplan was to weather the storm and get merill tired but would like to see some more shots in match 2. I. Cortez, Seidel and Bo did as expected and I think all have a great shot at gold this year.

Here are my takeaways from the finals:

57KG:

Match One: Isaiah Cortez handles Grey Burnett to a tune of 5-1 to take match one.

Match Two: Cortez continues to separate himself with a 10-0 tech over Burnett on the first period.

61KG:

Match One: Aaron Seidel is just too strong, too good. Elijah Cortez is really good, but just don’t see a way he wins a match in this series. Seidel wins 10-0.

Match Two: There was nobody close to Seidel at this tournament. Absolutely dominant, probably wins worlds if he goes.

65KG:

Match One: In Bo’s last three matches, he’s given up the first four points to Tyler Dekraker, Kellen Wolbert (both at the Open), and Clinton Shepherd today. He went on to tech or pin each of them.

Match Two: Shepherd came to scrap, but Bo is just too much, he dominates once again to a 10-0 tech. A lot of fun scrambles in the match though.

70KG:

Match One: Landon Robideau takes match one 5-0. miller couldn’t get anything going at all, he never came close to scoring.

Match Two: Landon Robideau is an animal. He didn’t do anything flashy, but I don’t know if I’ve  ever seen Melvin Miller get slowed down and controlled like that before. Robideau has a great chance at winning worlds.

74KG:

Match One: Jayden James is really good man, he wins 5-4. He got caught over wresting through a dangerous position. A similar situation he was in at SR WTT, giving up more than he had to. He’ll have to clean that up, especially if he were to go to worlds.

Match Two: Lockett’s back looked to have flared up early in the match. It didn’t look like it hindered him much. PSU lineup this, PSU lineup that, All Jayden James does is scrap and win (besides Carr). He had a great shot at a gold medal this year. Lockett looked good, but I would’ve wished we’d see a “go get it gene” develop in him by now.

79KG:

Match One: Ryan Burton wins 10-7 over Joey Jeter. Jeter looked pretty good, could definitely see this going three matches.

Match Two: Burton much more dominant this match, winning 8-1. I really wish we saw Danny Heiser get to him, that would’ve been a super fun series, and I would’ve picked Heiser. Jeter has a bright future ahead of him at Cornell.

86KG:

Match One: Aeoden Sinclair handled business, he wins 6-0.

Match Two: Aeoden Sinclair will win worlds. He wins. Brock is so good, definitely U20 world level, but Sinclair just makes him look like an amateur. 10-0 Sinclair.

92KG:

Match One: Jimmy Mastny domination 10-0. Hard to see a third match at this series

Match Two: Keep sleeping on Mastny at your own risk, all he does is win. He’s way too slick at his size than he should be, and dominates in all positions. He’s the best 197 recruit in the country, and is only a junior. He’ll be a national title contender his true freshman year. u20 Gold medal this year?

97KG:

Match One: Michael Boyle domination 10-0, hard to see a third match in this series.

Match Two: Michael Boyle domination again. Boyle’s going to be a problem for the Buckeyes in a couple years.

125KG:

Match One: Dreshaun being a lot more physical in this match, looks much more accustomed to the bulk that is Coby Merrill….. but then Merrill Houdini’d him on a single, then promptly laced him for the tech.

Match Two: Ross started off hot going up 3-0, he really timed Merrill’s forward pressure well, Merrill made a couple of adjustments, but Ross’s game plan prevailed as he wins 9-2. He gassed Coby hard, what a statement by Ross.

Match Three: Dreshsaun of old? When you give DT enough cracks at it, he’ll come up with a game plan. Ross swings one of HS’s best rivalries back in his favor with a 7-1 win. We’ll see them battle for many years as they head off to the Big 12.
