Seeing lots of guys worn out physically and mentally. Iowa State, Ohio St, Wisconsin and Cornell are sticking out to me.  Overtraining just cannot happen anymore.

Dresser guys are always injured or cutting too much weight--which is probably why they are always injured. Frustrating.

Everyone works hard in Div I, there's no doubt wrestlers must train hard, but when will these coaches understand the sport is evolving.

Over training is dead, mindful, regulated athletes who enjoy the sport are the future (look at 133)

Old school Iowa mentality. Not surprising from former Hawkeyes Dresser and Ryan. Not a Penn State homer but clearly their routine is working to keep guys healthy and grinding at the right time of the year.

I’m guessing DT is implementing the same thing at OkSt, but to be honest, some of his wrestlers look a little worn down. Specifically Swiderski, Robideau, Lockett and Ryder. I only say Robideau because he was murdering people at the beginning of the season and now seems to be just eeking out wins. Ryder looks like it’ll take him an hour to catch his breath at the end of his matches and Swiderski was exhausted at the end against SVN.

Agree some of his guys look worn down, I think some of it is a year 2 head coach, maybe overcompensating working the guys a little too hard, some of it is the guys just being true freshman.  I think alot of Swiderski's  is the high emotional toll he puts on himself

This. In that last match, he sold out physically and emotionally on those first "almost" takedowns.  He's one  tough SOB to keep brawling like that.

Re Lockett: I think it's imposter syndrome, and he's had an adrenaline dump before the match starts.

Re Robideau: I see a nervous freshman learning how to handle pressure, and he's done a great job.

Re Ryder: Dude's wrestling with one arm

In short, I dont think any of it is about overtraining.

Swiderski looks way better now than he did early in the season.  This is for sure the best he's wrestled this year.  Also it's hilarious to use how a guy looks after 9 minutes with Van Ness to knock him.  Robideau is wrestling well.  He just reversed a loss to Larkin.  Ryder's shoulder popped out just over a month ago and he's clearly just surviving.  Not sure whether that has anything to do with the room or not.

Lockett definitely declined as the season went on.

I remember back in the early 2000's the  community saying that the schedule was too brutal.  Just a month ago the community was saying not enough wrestling during the regular season.  Now the community is saying maybe it's too much.  You guys need to make up your minds

Seriously though, how do all the PSU guys have elite conditioning?

It’s gotta be the dodgeball

Not knocking Swiderski at all; I was super impressed how he dug deep in that one. And agree 100% he looks light years better than the beginning of the season. My point was that he was beyond exhausted (and had to dig deep) vs. Van Ness who looked like he was just starting the match when OT began from a conditioning perspective.

I’m not knocking anybody…behind Mizzou, I root for OSU ahead of anyone. Just pointing out that there’s a clear difference in PSU vs. all when it comes to conditioning at this point in the year.

But are today's college wrestlers more fragile or beat up due to all the competitions they participate in, starting in youth programs and travel tournaments around the country?

I agree Van Ness is in better shape than Swiderski.
