The WNBA could do themselves a big favor by upgrading their referees. Most knowledgeable fans find the officiating very sub-par. The referees for the women's NCAA basketball games are much, much better.

Are they still losing money? They just signed a TV contract with ESPN worth $200 million per year, up from $25 million per year. Add in another deal with ION for an undisclosed amount that is certainly a big jump from their old $13 million per year deal and two more expected deals and eatimates run about $260 million per year. Meanwhile three expansion franchises paid $250 million to join the league, up from $50 million. Seems like the old numbers are no longer meaningful.
