  2. This board had argued this time and again majority of fans don’t like freestyle majority of athletes don’t like freestyle. most “wrestling” Americans don’t care if we do better in worlds or Olympics and we’re already a world power so there isn’t much more we can improve on the world stage I posted #s to back both up last summer maybe. Not going to look up the thread….. very very small % of wrestlers make it to the wtt level. You’re ruining a sport for more athletes for a few more / better medals. It’s selfish on the freestyle peeps part. pretend this is in caps: you already have a freestyle season. Use it. you don’t have to wrestle folkstyle if you want to be a oly champ… you just can go to Colorado or a rtc no one is stopping the super elite from being super elite. Freestyle is everywhere. Go wrestle it if you want to. leave folkstyle alone. You will ruin it for 85+% of the fans.
  3. I don’t think they (UWW) care what America does with its folkstyle. I do think we would be better served and have a better product if we could work some freestyle concepts into folk. Step outs would be a huge improvement. I also would like to see some way stop the boring endless riding (ex. The ref brings them up after a certain amount of time). I do like the control aspect of folkstyle but overall the rules are better in freestyle. We could definitely make folk a little more like free while still maintaining the core concepts of folkstyle
  4. I don’t disagree/argue the push out guy won the match. I think the rules are just stupid. So fair. But. Please don’t pollute folkstyle with this nonsense. Could you imagine a push out rule at NCAAs with those tiny little mats given how small the venues are.
  5. Yes, and I don’t think anyone would disagree, but it’s part of the rules. And in this particular case, the amount of push outs won.
  6. They just gave Tom a new contract correct?
  7. Nah, he's much more into the health, wellbeing, longevity aspects of human physiology. Does he even have his own wrestling club that he coaches?
  8. Everyone knows that heavyweight matches are the least dynamic. For one thing, moving all that weight around is pretty tough. It's also fairly obvious that heavyweights are an extreme end of the size spectrum. So that means the talent pool at heavyweight is smaller than the talent pools at other weight classes. Further, heavyweight is almost certainly thinner than the other extreme of 125 because there are other good non-wrestling options for athletic big dudes -- like football or basketball -- whereas there aren't a lot of similar options for the 125 pounders. So it would make sense if heavyweight were normally the absolute thinnest weight class. Now when you look at Hodge winners over the past few years, four out of six have been heavyweights. What is the deal there? I don't know enough to draw conclusions, so please chime in.
  9. Well if Dake announces that he wants to coach, I have to believe it will be great for college wrestling, just like it was when David Taylor took the job at Ok.St. This past year with Nebraska and Ok.St.’s performances I believe was a huge factor in energizing our sport.
  10. I thought dake had the midichlorian count to get younger and go 57 to challenge Lee?
  11. And otherwise maybe Connell could bump up if Moore is taking 184 anyway
  12. Real take downs > push outs. Every time.
  13. Dake just needs to go to 79kg.
  14. Well Push outs are apart of the Freestyle and Greco rules. So it is what it is. Honestly though, I am a fan of the rule and I would like to see it incorporated into Folkstyle. But irregardless I thought it was a great match and I think that Mocco gave Mirasola everything he could handle.
  15. LOL I'm an idiot Why did Mirasola look so much bigger to me?
  16. If Gioffre is healthy that is a solid add. Chris Moore had a really good US Open at 86kg (189.2lbs), so I am thinking he could be moving up. Hoping to see a portal add at 197 soon.
  17. Would Iowa take Dake as head coach?
  18. Push outs were supposed to solve stalling and edge wrestling. Did they not?
  19. I am 5'7, lean and wiry. So it's not hard for me. I could do it tonight if I had good reason to lol If you gave me more time (another week?) I could get down to 61 KG or 133 but it wouldn't be pleasant
  20. More stalling should be called for sure, but not (IMO) for driving a guy out of bounds. If you're not shooting for takedowns, you don't deserve to benefit from stall points.
  21. I could see Dake alienating himself quickly with administration. He would have a Ken Chertow type coaching career.
