They replaced 3 guys who did not AA (Cruz, 141 DNQ, & Parco) with 3 guys who did not AA (Peterson, Bailey, Williams). They did replace a non AA (Teemer) with a 7th (Alvarez), but they lose a champ (Buch) for a guy who I see as R12 at best (Endene). Caliendo’s ceiling is 2nd, again. PK could move up a placement or two, but isn’t beating Haines. Keuter could move up a placement or two with 3 of the top 4 graduating, but Yonger comes back. Their biggest difference will be replacing Arnold (DNP) for Ferrari (who is likely top 3), but I’m not sure that’s a big enough difference to make up for the lost points of Buch to Endene.

Because the freestyle ruleset is intentionally created to give maximum interpretive power to the officials, which equals open doors for financially incentivized shenanigans. Half of the referees would have scored it the other way. This is where the freestyle ruleset blows, it’s thoroughly subjective.
