  1. Great interview! Bormet is a good guy.
  2. I like Michigan's odds of at least being in the final four. If Bassett is serious about Olympic/world freestyle, which I assume he is, Michigan currently ranks second only to Penn State in that area. Oklahoma State might build that side up quickly, but Iowa has fallen off substantially (outside of Lee) and Ohio State is practically non-existent.
  3. Yea, but that's how they got Pritzlaff to leave Michigan. Then over the course of the last nine years, Goodale convinced himself all of Rutgers' success was due to himself and never followed through with his end of the deal.
  4. I believe Cannon is going back to Northwestern.
  5. That rule changed, they have the same deadline as undergraduates now.
  6. * and just put two heavyweights on the U.S. Olympic Team ** and just coached up Lucas Davison to beat him and make the NCAA final
  7. The dad posts and tweets all day and all night. The kid doesn't. I suspect dad is the drama.
  8. All of this is so stupid. I agree with VakAttack about this ridiculous obsession with Pyles, fueled by idiots like Mineo as if he owns some moral high ground. I think Pyles does good work, he's an excellent match commentator, and from people who know and work with him, I've heard he's a pretty decent guy. Not sure the same can be said for the folks who bad mouth him almost daily (ie Mineo, Kania).
  9. But they’ve tried to get transfers the last couple years, and by some accounts tried pretty hard, they just haven’t gotten any. That’s why his act that they’re above the portal is so disingenuous.
  10. Cardenas has been committed to Michigan for a while. The ASU thing was another made-up Mineo “scoop.” I also see he deleted every one of his posts about Michigan poaching the Rutgers heavyweight that caused such a stir a couple days ago.
  11. But Michigan isn’t actually doing that - bringing in an AA over a R16/R12 guy. Bormet has said in interviews that they’re using the transfer portal to fill some of the gaps created by extending the scholarships of Amine, Micic and Massa through Olympic redshirt and an extra Covid year. They didn’t have a lot of money to recruit with for two classes. They’re also using these grad transfers to allow their freshmen to redshirt. They’ve got some good freshmen this year, coming in next year and committed for 2025. Bormet is a pretty savvy guy, I think there is strategy behind this.
  12. It's because everyone assumes Michigan for every transfer. It's almost like a running gag now. There's been rumors of Buchanan, Max Dean, Hamiti, and none of those were true. It's just Mineo making guesses then everyone just believes him. My Michigan connection told me yesterday there's no truth to the Yara stuff.
  13. Michigan had a very good season. They took second at Big Tens and third at NCAAs, their second trophy in two years. Dual season was inconsistent. Ragusin and Bullock had their best seasons, as did two of their transfers, Gomez and Davison had outstanding NCAA tournaments with their best career finishes. Griffith had an outstanding tournament after a bit of a dip last season. Lemley progressed all season then had a tough NCAAs as a true freshman. Lewan and Amine had tough seasons. Lewan’s style caught up with him, same with Amine to a lesser extent. Hopefully he can bounce back next year. So I think they’re a lot most teams. Some guys make jumps, some falter, etc.
  14. It's because those are the only programs with rolling grad school admissions. Most offseason transfers have already missed other grad program deadlines. A lot of student-athlete grad transfers into Michigan are in those programs.
