  1. I may have to give cael a break after reading about the Paris Match. This been the problem with this guy for several years in college. I believe Bill zadick is not facing enough scrutiny.
  2. No opinion stated just facts laid. Dakes last loss at Olympics was for relying on chest wrap. Isn't that where coaches step in ? Yes. Another fact. Imagine having a talent like dake and underperforming with that talent ?
  3. Biggest upset of mens tournament ? Did not see dake going down. He was on a mission and has been through the fire for this moment. Seriously ...not trolling....when a guy gets praised up and down like cael he deserves criticism when he fails and this is legitimate failures that are frankly embarrassing. Burroughs talking about how takatani scouted so well Let's call it what it is - cael DID NOT have dake prepared and no sideline adjustments. He didn't have brooks ready for that situation. The current most overrated thing in sports right now is cael Sanderson freestyle coaching. Large chance brooks and dake get to finals with another coach. Facts.
  4. Another Penn state guy and another guy who has flatlined or regressed since the move. If cael is so much better these are situations he should be making a difference in tactically.
  5. Except yazdani absolute smokes the field and covers 40 points football spreads where Kyle skates by and gets upset somewhat regularly. Their dominance isn't really comparable.
  6. Yea but they have team practices in colorado where I assume they do something as a team coordinated by zadick. Look someone has to have the big boy pants to step in front of cael for end of match situations. Apparently not. A failure at a multitude of levels. I believe this is where the Iranian and Russian one head coach in the corner has some benefits. Clear messaging. alignment. Clear understanding of match management and scouting of opponent to stay out of those positions. Caels folk dominance as a coach is largely based on top and bottom. Primarily that's the #1 reason for Penn states success. And winning close matches by grabbing onto the leg for a stalemate. Not things that translate to free.
  7. Does Bill zadick do anything or is he just a figurehead ? Seems like he does no coaching.
  8. It's absolutely true. Also. We all know Tom Ryan and dlagnov would of won many worlds with David Taylor. Same with any coach. Russian going 'this cael guy the best the US coach ? Dumb USA expose at end of match again. Hahahaha. Have another beer my Dagestan brother"
  9. Cause it's what u do in NCAA folk. Does anyone in the media have the balls to ask cal in an interview about this and how reminiscent it is of Gilman. And how many times they practiced it ? Cal just dropped off the pantheon for me. Major recruiting tool for other rtcs to use is this and Snyder's lack of improvement since going to PSU. I don't think anyone has the balls. Certainly not at flo.
  10. I promise you all the Russians are at home right now laughing at the brooks match and at USA coaching for those tactics.
  11. It's like in basketball fouling up 3 to not even let a 3 point attempt. In wrestling now how do you protect a lead late ? Don't allow underhooks. Well how bout not shooting to put yourself in a position to be crotch lifted. And then once there maybe some awareness of it so you don't just try to win NCAAs on a leg from the ref. In the moment I thought that was a great great move by uguev. Now i view it as way easier then hitting a single leg. Brooks looked even more uncomfortable then gilman there. Id be curious what the stats are of USA hanging on to positions late vs Russians.
  12. That's same thing people said about uguev against Gilman. I actually don't think it was incredible by uguev or the Belarus today - I think it's a fairly easy move for them and it will be repeated every single time We need to train to defense that move late like defending an under hook on a throw when up big late. American instincts through folk are obviously to hold on there with no awareness whatsoever. I believe this needs to be brought to zadichs attention. And Sanderson. It's obvious coaching malpractice. I believe end of match freestyle prep should take up maybe 50 percent or more of practice time. Euros just kills us there. Without hesitation I believe Gilman and brooks should have and would have won those matches with better coaching.
  13. Exactly and that was also coached by Penn state....thats not a throwaway "eh they just got us" thats a unique position and time sequence that should of been prepped for....It looks like selling out on the stalemate like your hanging onto legs at NCAA with your head down and praying for the whistle. It's bad tactics. Ive seen many many more times USA lose late vs euros trying to "hold on" late too. Retherford has had many tho perhaps not the same position. I would say there was more then one sequence that showed a lack of international savvy and instincts in this match and I believe the sequence that could of led brooks up 5-0 was international savvy by the Belarusian.
  14. Coaching Something needs to be said That position brooks was in at the end was fairly elementary and should of seen that move coming and practiced a million times Penn state malpractice ?
  15. Brooks needed to finish that single to go up 5-0. Not sure how he didn't score 2 things are true. Brooks didn't wrestle bad and could of wrestled yaz tough and brooks was also massively overrated because he doesn't dominate fields and a result like this should not be shocking
  16. I think brooks is getting judged too harshly .....he didn't look bad...it's just his style ...one in which is not likely to win close matches like NCAA against foreigners. Even dake loses close matches to foreigners. It's all stylistic. Taylor 100 percent would of dominated this Belarus guy. ...and brooks would fare better vs yazdani then the Belarus will. Just like brooks did vs Taylor Brooks would of given yazdani a go.
  17. It's not just experience it's style. Brooks style is more close matches which the Europeans are elite at. Taylor just opened up on people. The closer the matches the more experience you need for those tight positions.
  18. Amine can beat brooks even 100 percent brooks. Amine fits international style better. Remember Valencia best brooks at trials. Dude is massively overrated
  19. Taylor would of tech falled the Bulgarian no doubt. This is another cox situation.
  20. Taylor would of dominated that match That last position was a international position. Brooks isn't elite there yet Everytime Taylor doesn't go we see what happens
  21. 10 years once junior worlds start. Just take one of his current son's. Let's say they move to Sweden because his purebred American Midwestern wife gets a job change. Well if the metcalfs get dual citizenship the current metcalfs can wrestle for Sweden And everyone here would have no right to say well that's an American kid. My take on emor stands.
  22. I think if Brent Metcalf and his Iowa wife moved to Sweden in 5 years and had a wrestler son everyone here would say that's more of an American kid. And then my take would look golden.
  23. There's many guys who are good at specialization in one sport and elite. There's few who are elite at multiple. It's what makes bo Jackson the best athlete of all time or deion Sanders. And it's what makes Eddie eagen the greatest Olympian ever. Eddie Eagan, USA Sports: Men’s Boxing, Men’s Bobslei After competing in boxing for his first two Olympic Games in 1920 and 1924, Eagan decided to try his hand at the bobsleigh at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. At the end of his sporting career, he had two gold medals to boast of—one for boxing, and one for bobsleigh.
  24. Your takes are horrible. Marchand best the world record holder in the fly as his competition. Phelps also had swim suits that are now banned technology due to being able to swim faster. Phelps and marchand are both in modern age of swimming so times matter.
  25. Uh marchand best Phelps time in all those races above. I watched the entire swimming and it was quoted he said that during broadcast. Also Bowman quoted saying marchand asked how much Phelps time was in their most arduous practice session and marchand best it by 5-6 seconds. Broadcast also pointed out how marchand under water is better then Phelps
