  1. The UK just absolutely crushed it at the 1908 Olympics in freestyle, winning 11 out of a possible 15 medals—including three golds.
  2. Iowa. I know you don’t feel like it’s your home, but it’s your state.
  3. Who is the best wrestler from your state? Indiana is not a premier state, and some of its best wrestlers have competed in other states for high school. But it’s produced some elite wrestlers anyway. Not sure who the best is, but some of the best are Micic (world champ), Escobedo, Howe, Nick Lee, and Parris. Steveson lived in Indiana for a while but it doesn’t really count. Hildebrandt is the best women’s wrestler.
  4. I believe this is PSU’s last Big Ten dual of the year, and Nebraska has a tough team. Should be fun to watch.
  5. Here are some potential matchups: 125- Davis vs. Smith 133- Nagao vs. Van Dee 141- Bartlett vs. Hardy 149- Kasak vs. Lovett 157- Haines vs. Robb 165- MM vs. Taylor 174- Starocci vs. Wilson 184- Truax vs. Pinto 197- Brooks vs. Allred 285- Kerk vs. Andrews
  6. Some Latino-sounding surnames: 125- Ramos 125- Ayala 133- Serrano 141- Mendez 141- *I think Lemley is related to Angel Escobedo 149- Gomez 157- Cardenas 165- Ramirez 184- Salazar 197- Cardenas 285- Bastida
  7. If I were Bartlett, I would’ve ducked. But he’s got honor.
  8. D1 wrestling is hard on the body and wrestling fewer matches helps. That said, it would be better for fans to have interesting in-season tournaments. Anyway, I favor what’s best for the wrestlers.
  9. No idea. But it seems like PSU has had starters sit out here and there last month; wrestling at Iowa is pretty demanding travel wise; and they can afford to sit a starter or two.
  10. I think we might see a few backups wrestle, particularly on PSU’s side.
  11. OT could feature a smaller circle and push outs. Or, instead of OT, tied marches could be decided by criteria. Personally I like criteria.
  12. Talk as much as you want, if you think talking is fun. But perspective is important.
  13. There are controversial and bad calls in every sport at every level. It’s a good reason to not put too much stock on the results of what is — in the end — a game. Try going outside, or learning a new skill, or reconnecting with your wives, or finally going to therapy.
  14. I’ve suspected for a while that the SEC and Big Ten might withdraw from the NCAA and form their own organization for the purposes of football. They’d essentially have a mini NFL. Not sure what such a potential move might mean for other sports.
  15. There were no world champions in 2020 because of COVID. Olympics got pushed back a year. I can only assume that they'll resume Olympic-year world championships for non-Olympic weights.
  16. I don't see why PSU would redshirt anybody next year given all the talent they have coming in. Lilledahl, Gibson, Sealey, Ryder, the Mirasolas. Plus they have Barr looking tough.
  17. If I were Starocci — and I’m definitely not — I’d just go for a world gold at 79kg this year. World champ sounds good to everyone.
  18. Excuse my ignorance, but I thought KOT was headed for his fourth postseason. Has he said whether he’ll go for a fifth?
  19. Here are mine: 125- Ramos 133- Vito 141- Mendez 149- Gomez 157- Cardenas 165- Mesenbrink 174- Starocci 184- Keckeisen 197- Brooks 285- Kerkvliet
  20. Top contenders at this point in the season are (in no particular order): KOT (85% bonus) Brooks (100% bonus) Starocci (88% bonus) Fix (88% bonus) Hendrickson (88% bonus) Hidlay (88% bonus) Keckeisen (83% bonus)
  21. This is awkward because I named my son Jimmy Cinnabons.
  22. I guess so. I wonder if kids in the area will show up to see the famous PSU team as well.
  23. How is it possible for this dual to be sold out?
  24. You watched a coach during a wrestling match?
  25. Someone please explain the Ferrari situation to me in NBA terms.
