  1. Brooks confirmed that Starocci was sick. No idea if he's back to 100% now though.
  2. "Reaction time's hilarious... sometimes takedown, sometimes not"
  3. Followed by watching Youtube videos of Bajrat Punia from Indi, reruns of Cleveland India baseball, and the blockbuster movie Indian Jones and the Temple of Doo.
  4. Not just healing though, he'll need to be able to maintain his conditioning and get in some reps on the mat to keep the rust off. Not a ton of time but I hope he's good to go by Big XIIs.
  5. #FridayNightStaringUpAtTheLights
  6. I see that TBar made a prediction on HVI. Surprised that he hasn't registered his forecast here for this particular dual.
  7. That reminds me, I have some tinfoil headgear to sell to him. Don't wanna risk catching the Covid from wifi.
  8. Seems vaguely familiar
  9. I'm a little surprised that 94% and 90% of posters picked Nagao and Truax to win, respectively, and oddly more people picked Truax to bonus than Nagao. I would think that Ayala, Mesenbrink, and Woods would be more favorable picks to win (plus, Shrievke & Riggnold will wrestle Nagao & Truax tough) but then again I predicted the same as the hivemind...
  10. I think they should do the show from voting booths so ONLY their legs are showing
  11. Someone mentioned Nahshon Garrett earlier. I could see him hanging it up after this cycle. I had high hopes for him after college. It's too bad he didn't get in more international experience at the Senior level, though I guess he's had other things to deal with outside of wrestling. Similar (but also different) with Jordan Oliver not getting a lot of international exposure.
  12. Passion doesn't always result in participation, though. For Pico, earning a paycheck may have been a bigger priority than doing what he enjoyed or (possibly) was better at. In either case, it's a little disappointing for fans to romanticize someone who chose to ditch the sport, whatever his reason was.
  13. Naw, it was my bad for the corny dad joke
  14. Thanks... I was thinking Lehigh but it looks like Beard will still have another year left
  15. He also didn't have one eye on OTTs less than 4 weeks from Nationals or keeping his weight within reach of 125lbs last year. I agree that he's still one of a small group of favorites to win it all, though.
  16. Coulid Cardenas grad transfer to an EIWA school after this season?
  17. They just need to tell kids: What can Brown do for you?
  18. If Starocci wins, it's a Cartering
  19. Yup. Rags is my pick though I don't know well Ragusin2024 matches up with Fix. Vito is always a threat but he may be splitting his time on his freestyle and weight management game and not totally keyed in for NCAAs. Crookham will make some noise too. I'd like Teske to be a darkhorse but who knows if he's even in the lineup next month.
  20. Mesenbrink could get Carvered, but not in the way Jimmy is thinking. Mes is used to competing in high pressure environments, but CHA is CHA and it'll be his first time in that sort of atmosphere. He might get a little shell shocked and lose focus. Not that it happens to PSU kids often. The Carl vibe is strong.
  21. I'd be surprised if Cooter doesn't go this week. Winning the dual is important, but "getting out there, wrestling hard, testing yourself, seeing where you're at" is a bigger priority to Ol' Tommie. The postseason is just around the corner and he wants his boys battle tested. If he wants Ben to be the guy, he'll suit up and go. Similar to Rathjean, though Brands made it sound like he and Voinovich are still competing for the spot. Same with Riggins and PK... as much as I want to see Gabe wrestle, I'm not holding my breath. Ol' Tommie will want his starters to put in the work.
  22. Jimmy doesn't honor his wagers, and if PJ loses he's got betting credit from the old board. Nothing really at stake here.
  23. Lotta folks are down on Iowa since the UM dual, but I think it gives Ol' Tommie and his boys the kick in the ass they all need for this week. Plus they'll be wrestling at CHA and extra fired up. I won't go so far as to say the Iowa takes this one but I expect much more competitive matches, no going through the motions like we saw in Ann Arbor. 125 - Ayala dec Davis 0-3 Hawks 133 - Nagao dec Schrievske 3-3 All 141 - Woods dec Bartlett 3-6 Hawks 149 - Rathjean dec Kasak 3-9 Hawks 157 - Haines dec Franek 6-9 Hawks 165 - Mesenbrink maj Caliendo 10-9 PSU 174 - Starocci maj PK 14-9 PSU 184 - Truax dec Riggins 17-9 PSU 197 - Brooks tf Glazier 22-9 PSU 285 - Kerk maj Hillcoot 26-9 PSU If Arnold suits up at 174, it'll be worth the price of admission no matter what happens.
