  1. I was under the impression that CU the school was doing all right relative to CU athletics, which is a separate entity. It seemed like the college has been mitigating its enrollment deficit with record transfer admissions. Did the athletics spend or set aside funds for new athletics facilities? I appreciate you giving us the inside scoop there.
  2. That's true. DT went through the same thing. The high paced attacks and chain wrestling that won him titles up through college didn't translate at the senior level in FS. Moving up to 86kg forced Taylor to change his style quite a lot ,but you could see him learning to be more selective with his motion and positions even as he was learning to be a world level freestyler at 74.
  3. A wrestler who gets taken down and scores a 2pt reversal or 1pt escape is incentivized to turn their opponent or cut them loose and work for a takedown because they're still losing. It also incentivizes the wrestler who got reversed to get out from underneath because a reversal + RT would negate their takedown. A 3 point reversal would just tie the score 3-3 and encourage rideouts.
  4. Holding out could also work against a kid. We're talking about wrestling, which doesn't have deep pockets like the NIL collectives that drive football & basketball. Funds could run dry as other wrestlers are signed, or a collective might decide to splurge on another top guy. If money is a huge factor for BB, it might be in his best interest to be transparent and ask for best and final offers up front while the money's available and there's an appetite.
  5. Haha, he's really milking it. With college sports being what it is, it would be kinda funny if he does a top 80 transfer portal countdown every season.
  6. Man, Cenzo must have U-Haul on speed dial by now. Hopefully he's happy working under Koll again. He was doing good work and enjoying himself during his stint at Stanford but seemed embittered, like the rest of us, when NIL started rolling.
  7. Impressive. Fans gotta at least make some noise for that. I mean come on, PSU peanut gallery.
  8. but AJ he's corny, he's horny demon-possessed like Sigourney thinks he can get to your knee his yappin just bores me double bird splits, rips his drawers, you see keep him at home indoors please
  9. Any concerns with Grice's gas tank down at 125? I know it's way to early to tell, but just asking. An Oz-Figs matchup at the ASU dual would be fun to see.
  10. The Mustard Museum's Poupon U. promotions at UW will be wild.
  11. I assumed Osmany would RS to acclimate to the style and maybe the cut. Speaking of, do you think he can manage 125? I figure if he's like 22 and making 57kg, he probably won't outgrow the weight. But hard to tell. Also will Terukina have any more eligibility after this season? Would be nice to see him put some real focus into his senior(?) season and make some noise at 125. Part of the reason for his lack of consistency was discipline, plain and simple, but Dresser has said that Kysen's moved past the partying and hijinks and is doing all the right things.
  12. Was there any update on Sasso's status?
  13. I'm not a huge fan of Stanford in the ACC, but their upcoming schedule looks pretty fun. And by fun I mean also brutal. That's a tough slate of wrestling ahead for the Cardinal!
  14. Contact Track and ask if they have an API available
  15. And his official visit to Cornell is when? Also you just said earlier this month that it'll be Iowa, tOSU, or PSU.
  16. That said, it would be interesting if PSU's AD put in an incentive structure in his contract with bonuses based on home ticket sales or the sound meter exceeding xyz decibels or some benchmarks along those lines. Cael said last season that PSU's home duals are too quiet. His boss should incentivize him to build a better match day atmosphere and see what he comes up with.
  17. Hard to blame for Carl scheduling cautiously. He probably feels bitten by the late season injury bug: Starocci, Nolf, Suriano, Shak, Zain (FS)... They pay him to win matches and bring home hardware, so making wrestling fans happy probably isn't a huge priority.
  18. Was anyone surprised to see Terukina up at 133? In my mind, he's small for the weight and I figured ISU would have a stronger lineup with him at 125. Does that mean their (other) kid from Cuba is won't be RS this season? His name escapes me atm but he beat Richie Figs at Junior Pan Ams a while back.
  19. I'm all for a PSU-Cornell dual, but tbf the regular conference schedule is pretty brutal for any of the B1G schools
  20. Good flip for Taylor. In Iowa, wrestlers flip coach!
  21. Aside from being generally less enjoyable for fans (like in wrestling, when Mesenbrink transferred from Cal Baptist to PSU; or DeSanto from Drexel to Iowa), when athletes transfer out of an Ivy school, the team and student body usually shrinks. And that can cascade down the line into further problems for the school.
  22. A friend in LA is going to a BJJ clinic next weekend and asked if I knew who Jason Nolf was. He's doing a 2-hour workshop on wrestling takedowns for BJJ. $150 a pop.
  23. It's not about whether the Ivies are competitive, but whether other programs can use NIL collective money, which the Ivies don't have, to poach their talent
