  1. That would be pretty wild if it were to happen, but would also be a great lesson for guys who default out of WTT/OTT when they're out of the championship side. Finish the tournament, you never know what might happen.
  2. Is he going to have to shut down or relinquish his stake in M2 tho? Compliance and such
  3. Pretty sure those collection of screams you hear off in the distance are coming from Iowa.
  4. Great, but if you look at the bolded sentence that I was responding to, we're talking about what would be a boost for the sport, not just Oklahoma State. But top 10 finishes 70% of the time ain't to shabby.
  5. Idk, man. It's Okie State. I think they'll be fine with or without Taylor. I'd really love to see DT, JB, Dake, etc. go to a program out West/Northwest or down South where college wrestling has a weak or fading footprint, and put a program on the map. That would be great for the sport but people like to going back to the mothership to coach.
  6. First question should be whether AB had a prescription for the Adderall. If no, that likely points to PED usage. In addition to some of the performance benefits already mentioned, amphetamines like Adderall can also boost energy levels and enhance neural pathways for a boost in speed and reactiveness.
  7. WWE really did him dirty with the timing of his release. Can't blame Steveson for chasing a paycheck. In hindsight, he might have been able to rack up some pretty good deals if he stayed in college with the way NIL seems to be heating up.
  8. Bit of a slap in the face to Coleman imo
  9. UWW and Nielson Olympic Analytics have Fujinami listed at 53 and she's supposed to be bak to training this month, but who knows. The 57 spot might be hers to take, if she wants it, with Sakurai losing at the Asian Championships last month. Lots of questions.
  10. Is Sads still a little banged up? How do you like his chances with Taz? Nice to see Khuzin back.
  11. Looks pretty nice! I'm envious of those who get to experience "new wrestling room smell"... which no doubt will be completely gone after one day of practice there I think people are commenting on the windows because it's such a contrast to with the new UNI wrestling room design?
  12. He's clearly ducking Arnold!! In all fairness, Starocci looked pretty big at trials and will want to go 197 if he plans on settling in at 86kg for freestyle. Esp if he wants to take a shot at U23s this fall.
  13. Yeah, it sounds like an expensive case to litigate. Who is paying the athletes' legal fees? I guess it helps to split it 26 or however many ways, bust still.
  14. If there's a separate women's tournament my hope is that it will be sufficiently staggered so the men's and women's championships and conference tournaments don't cannibalize one another. Make it easy for fans who want to attend both to take vacation and travel to both. Better yet, space apart the two seasons so that the men's Nationals builds hype for the sport that carries over to the women's Nationals, or vice versa.
  15. Dake must be getting close to hanging it up, no matter what happens at the Olympics. I wonder what he'll decide. How about Adeline? Did she retire?
  16. Patricia Saunders would arguably have been a 3-time Olympian if WFS existed before 2004. Kristie Davis might've been a 4-timer or more (maybe).
  17. Good question. I imagine part of the muscle and gas tank perception comes from our folkstyle tradition. Strength and conditioning can get you pretty far in a style that's based heavily on control, riding, and long scrambles whereas wrestling through takedowns or scrambles in freestyle to get or prevent an exposure could be perceived as more finesse or technique-based. Idk if many people believe that's true today, there are so many opportunities for American wrestlers to train with or be coached by international FS/GR folks and develop solid technique, plus tons of international wrestling footage for us to learn from. The introduction of the step-out rule could arguably have played to the success of some American wrestlers but I'd guess that ppl outside the US would broadly say that our wrestlers are successful because we're a wealthy country with lots of resources, as is assumed with many other sports.
  18. The only one I can think of is synchronized swimming. Gymnastics also has pretty different, gender-specific events but men's and women's are sort of considered to be different sports. But yeah, not too many men-only or women's-only core sports out there.
  19. I was hoping this would be about someone with a name like Greg Kerkbleat or Lincoln Baa-cilravy
  20. Exactly. Also taking bad shots forces the offensive wrestler to chain wrestle out of the situation and find another scoring opportunity, which leads to more excitement. If slip throws was an effective rule, Judo would have adopted it in a second.
