I have and will continue to say duel rather than dual. Because im right. Dual is nonsensical terminology. Want to debate me start a different thread on it.

I completely disagree on pushout and criteria creating a decision space with more postive incentives than negative. The continuation rule tries to adress perverse incentives of the push out at least. For me personally freestyle as a rule set is volatile by design and thus a mess. When even hardcore wrestling heads cant agree on if its 2 points for x wrestler of 4 for y wrestler there are issues at the most fundamental level of your ruleset.

How does it put you in an inescapable hole? You have access to the same scoring system. Your first point makes no sense. Ive already addressed your second point and I agree.

Id also be interested to know about the shot clock in freestyle. What % of guys on the clock score. It seems low. Are matches higher scoring since its implementation? I doubt it.

I doubt anyone wants to increase the barrier to majors and techs. Especially if its positively affecting duel scores. I thought I missed reactions at first but im over it. I dont miss them. WKN should just come back hes a grown man, why would a grown man need emjois? It is very hard to directly incentivize more action without serious side effects. The higher TD and NF value putting wrestlers closer to majors and techs is about as good as it gets because a coach will implore them to push for those higher values in close duels. I suspect if this sport were more duel based we would see action go up but only for the most dominant wrestlers. That may even be the case now but im not WKN and i dont have the spreadsheets. Id be interested to know if a % of the most dominant wrestlers are more actively scoring and where the drop off is if that is the case

Did WKN make a post about Duel (not dual never dual) scoring and show there is no change in team scores? Because thats a dynamic that seems to me may have changed. As for rule changes in general, the entire wrestling community seems to have no clue about game theory, decision spaces, or what a perverse incentive is. I see the dumbest ideas for rule changes with the most glib justifications from fans to people who actually matter in this conversation. That being said. I do like 3 point take downs and 4 point near fall, even if i dont think its perfect.

What is wrong with 3 pt TD and 4 pt NF?

Can we get some examples of bad rule changes? And for the record i dont like the idea proposed here.

When is the last time you bought a sweatshirt? My asu wrestling shirt was expensive as hell last season. And i needed a new one. I could look it up but i think it was like 35 bucks. For a thinner material with no sleeves.

It was on FLO tonight. I dont know if that was a last minute decision but it wasnt advertised by FLO in really any meaningful way. They reposted a CLAW post on instagram the day before Thanksgiving. Anyways, if you watched it what did you think? Did your stream also have difficulties during the final match and deciding moment of the championship? I have some opinions but ill save them until I have someone who watched it to talk with.

Actually you are right. This is the example. That Caliendo loss was to the cowboys. The duel was closer than people seem to think it was.

It litterally almost did happen. Massoma hit a 7 point move and could have pinned. Keuter is 3-0? Against feldman and with the duel on the line and needing a pin the tension would have been crazy. The person i quoted said the match was out of reach after 133 which is entirely false. Caliendo wins and Massoma pins and the duel looks much closer even without a heavy weight. Ohio looked incredible but people love to shit on iowa and saying stupid things.

This is mathematically false. If Massoma pins (and he nearly did) its now 21-15 which puts iowa within distance of a tie and going to criteria if they had Keuter available and he is able to stick Feldman.

Ncaa is on espn+ and does not switch services during the tournament.

You said you wanted new fans. Put the whole tournament on espn then. More run time equals more opportunity for new eyes. You can twist yourself into knots and say casual fans this and more money that but youre just being inconsistent. More people would watch the entire thing if its on one service. More people would have the opportuinty to see it if it was on espn. Anyways i dont really care what you think.

Complained about it at dinner. Turned out my sister who was over for dinner has hulu. Didnt have to spend money still get to watch the match. Posted about it earlier.
