  1. Ground hogs day joke? Why post this again?
  2. Seems unlikely to me but i didnt do thr math. Highest number of participants in 45 years, viewership is up as well. Continue to look for a reason to claim its in decline if you want.
  3. I feel like youre mocking me when i specifically said id leave duel score alone and gave an alternative to the thread topic.
  4. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/11223805-high-school-wrestling-participation-tops-300k-for-first-time-in-45-years Here it is from flo
  5. from google: High school wrestling in the U.S. has reached record participation, with over 374,000 total athletes in the 2024-25 season, including over 300,000 boys and a rapidly growing, record-setting 74,064 girls. The sport experienced a significant resurgence in the 2020s, with girls' participation surging by 15% and roughly 1,000 new girls' teams added in 2024-25.
  6. I was born in the 80s. Viewership is up, participation is up. If you weigh girls programs against lost male d1 programs im not sure how much has been lost. The state of modern atheltics and universites is a different matter than if wrestling itself is declining.
  7. If anything make it. 2 points for a decision 3 points for a major 4 points for a tech And 6 for a pin Trying to game 1 point matches wont work. And i dont think what i just said would change 1 point matches but it would make pins even more premium and exciting. But id leave it as is.
  8. The sport is as big as it has been in my lifetime. Its not on the decline.
  9. What? Put it on Levi he did it.
  10. Why not just remove the stalemate? Wrestle through all positions.
  11. I agree its fine. I do think it could be better. Thats any sports fan. I used to watch UFC, not so much anymore and while i enjoyed it i had legitamite complaints. Fouls go unpunished, 3 judges make it too easy to get it wrong, etc. And those are easy fixes. I dont neccesarily think wrestling is as easy but i beleive its possible to improve. Not with the step out though fuck that.
  12. I tend to agree with you but do you really think theres nothing we can do? I think there are things we can do but people would go nuts if i described them.
  13. This is a common problem in combat sports. The "feeling out process" id prefer more periods and longer matches to a push out. Or a total redesign of the boundary over push out as well.
  14. It happened recently in another match as well i want to say during penn state vs nebraska but im not 100%. Just wrestle.
  15. I cant stand when guys dont fight hands and bitch. Wrestle.
  16. Id agree with that hypothesis.
  17. Im sure i remember it, at the end of the match he is face down huggin the ankle and the "bottom man" is basically free and trying to yank his foot free because techinally he is still being controlled? Ill still watch it but i remember that scenario playing out around that time period.
  18. This happens in boxing a lot. Slower early round. Does wrestling need more periods and longer matches? I know how people will answer but i do find it to be an interesting question.
  19. After the duel im on it
  20. Interesting
  21. I agree. They start calling the second you try to run a tight waste and ankle break down or off a take down. Its dumb.
