  1. word on the street is that he may consider returning if they rename the school to “Carl Baptist”.
  2. What about conference? Never heard it referred to as "conferences"
  3. until there is enough data, wrestlers with cool names tend to get slightly overrated.

  5. The illini men’s gymnastics team faces off against Oklahoma today at that time. https://fightingillini.com/sports/mens-gymnastics/schedule
  6. Are you kidding me? One individual national title versus one team title might be a more interest question. Even though tournament scoring is not always the best yardstick (as discussed on other threads), Wrestling is absolutely as much (maybe even more so) a team sport as an individual one. While even just getting on the podium at NCAAs is a huge accomplishment, and one that teammates should be proud of, I'd imagine sharing a team championship with the guys you wrestled with for four (or five) years would be a bigger deal. Another question that i think might be more interesting could be a team conference title versus individual AA honor. Again, the team success would be an easy choice for many. Might depend on your past experiences with being a part of successful teams though.
  7. Good meet. Illinois takes second Place. Iowa ended up finishing next to last.
  8. back when TDs were two points, I used to think reversals should be worth three (It's like getting an escape AND a takedown!), but now I actually think the scoring is in really good shape with 3td 1e and 2r. If you reverse and let the guy go, that's kind of like getting an escape. If you reverse the guy and hold him down, that's slightly better than an escape (and you can accrue riding time, could be a three point swing!). I wonder if making reversals higher in value would decrease their frequency. Like if you would get three for a reversal, the top man would be more likely just to disengage with a possible scramble rather than try to maintain control.
  9. are you going to say what the one weight class is? possible that some of the beasts people are picking would not make weight.
  10. Ha! Thanks. I am still hoping for more entries, but as a former wrestler, I know that getting your hand raised in a forfeit still counts as a win.
  11. After giving up a season-high eight points to his opponent at Sunday's dual meet, Lucas Byrd has decided to retire from collegiate competition in order to pursue a career as a mat-side reporter for the newly formed inflatable sumo ball league. I'm hoping that he changes his mind before it is time for the conference championships.
