  1. This is a point that we disagree on. I think Zare and Geno could both hand Steveson a loss. Gable looked great at the US Open, but he is not knows for being consistent, and he will be facing a long list of good opponents. He could win it all, but I wouldn't put it in such strong terms as you have done here. I mean he beat Geno with two clutch takedowns in a handful of seconds, a match that could have gone either way. He has also been away from wrestling for a year, though you couldn't tell that from the US Open. There's no doubt that the World Championships are a large step up from the US Open.
  2. No doubt about it. And it wasn't a fluke. It was Parris's day. I would say that in the interim, Zare has been wrestling with the big boys, though, while Parris was beating up on NCAA heavyweights. Now I like watching NCAA heavies, Cass, Kerk, Parris, as much as the next guy. But they're just not the same caliber as the heavies on the senior men's circuit. I'm not saying that Zare is invincible. I'm saying that he has the best chance of giving Steveson a loss. Parris against Akgul is a fantasy match. Parris will not be representing the US on the senior men's circuit unless Steveson stops wrestling.
  3. Who are both? Both Zare and Parris? or Zare and Steveson? I don't see Mason Parris beating Geno or Akgul right now, especially in light of how easily Steveson dispatched him at the US Open. Zare has beaten both. I see Zare as the heavyweight with the greatest chance to beat Steveson. I believe that Geno could also beat Steveson. I don't see Parris with a shot of beating Steveson. This is the Zare I'm talking about.
  4. Not only is today's Zare considerably bigger than the 2019 version, he is more importantly much more experienced and successful on the senior men's circuit. After the loss to Mason Parris in 2019, he had a pretty good year. He won gold in the 2019 U23 World Championships, then beat Geno Petriashvili 15-11 in a match in the Iranian Premier League. He won bronze in the 2019 Alans International, teching Nick Gwiz 10-0 in the bronze medal match. In 2020 he won gold in the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series, and another gold in 2021 at the Poland opening, again beating Gwiz (6-1 DQ). I can only imagine that Gwiz got DQed after too many cautions for backing out of bounds. Zare is a force to be reckoned with regarding his forward pressure, especially with his current size and strength. He gave back a match to Geno in the Olympics (6-3), where he won bronze. In 2021 he won the World Championships, teching Gwiz (10-0), beating Akgul (4-0), and then beating Geno soundly in the finals (9-2). In the 2022 World Championships, he lost to Taha Akgul 4-2, coming up short with a bronze medal. Zare is among an elite few at heavyweight on the senior men's circuit. He is only 22 years old, so I expect him to win a lot of gold medals in the future. A match with Steveson would be excellent. It would pit two of the greatest young heavyweights against each other. Zare seems to have a gas tank. It's time to forget the Junior World's fluke against Paris and focus on the Zare of today. I mean there aren't many casting doubt towards Gable Steveson's abilities due to his 2019 loss to Cassar.
  5. That's some home cooking there. The #1 seed rolls.
  6. 125kg = 275 pounds 97kg = 213 pounds Gable is a full 125 kg. Sadulaev is by far the most accomplished and successful active wrestler. He could not compete with another great wrestler so much heavier. Please review the YouTube videos of Snyder going in the room with Akgul from Turkey. Snyder is a great wrestler. He was ragdolled. Let's see if Gable Steveson can get by Zare. Let's see if he can beat Geno again. These fantasy matches will never happen, and they shouldn't.
  7. Nolf demolished O'Toole. There are many grasping at hopium straws here. Nolf took a vacation in the second period, and still O'Toole was only able to score once. The staff probably told Nolf to get some more mat-time in. He spent under 8 minutes wrestling in his previous three matches, all (10-0, 11-0) techs. There's no doubt that he was coasting at a loose 60-70% sparring pace in the final period against O'Toole, keeping a sharp defense. Notice how he was able to avoid giving up the takedown with :23 seconds left after a great high crotch shot by O'Toole. Nolf was loose. Then notice the final seconds when he reattacked on the low shot after stuffing two shot attempts by O'Toole. Up 9-2 halfway through the second period, the strategy is to avoid situations in which one could be injured. O'Toole is a very creative wrestler, and Nolf did a great job shutting him down and cruising to victory. Nolf looks great.
  8. Marstellar is having a fantastic tournament. He is wrestling great, and he is hungry. He wants to dethrone JB at 79kg. Will Starocci get past Dieringer? Can Chance beat the two of them this year?
  9. No doubt. And Nolf is high level, having achieved some real success now in international competition despite the fact that he hasn't been able to get past Dake. Now the question is about whether his old teammate Cenzo Joseph is on the same level, as they will face off in the finals. I think Nolf takes it.
  10. So are you saying that Micic was a Cornell guy, because I recall the deliberate arm twisting Kimura was against Micic.
  11. What happened there? FLOARENA had Bartlett as the winner with his name in the finals match in the brackets, and now it has been changed to Nick Lee. Did Lee win outright, or was there a late challenge? By the way, Bartlett is representing in freestyle!!!! Monster stuff. I never would have imagined that he could roll with Nick Lee (10-10), even though I'm aware that he has a strong freestyle pedigree.
  12. What do you think is going on right now? A tidal wave of "defections" from Russia? Seriously, "defect" is a word that I have not heard since 1992 when the USSR broke up. Do you realize that "we in the US" are the recipients of the most propaganda of any nation in the world, including China, Iran, Russia and North Korea. This propaganda is shoveled into the trough by EVERY mainstream media outlet, from Fox to MSNBC. At least the intelligent people in the abovementioned nations UNDERSTAND that the media message is controlled. But Americans, after years and years of repeated and more serious lies from the mainstream media, continue to watch and believe these sources for information on everything. These are the most gullible people in the world, willing to gobble up the most outrageous lies and misrepresentations of truth. I mean, what do you think is going on? Russian interference in US elections? Russian bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines? Ukraine is winning the war? Ukraine will launch an offensive that will recover Crimea? China is the one disrupting the status quo in the Taiwan Strait? Putin will be dead of cancer next week? After taking Taiwan, China will want to take over Japan, the Philippines, and perhaps Korea for good measure? Chinese citizens have opened "police stations" in the US? Back to wrestling: Amine had absolutely nothing for Dauren Kureugliev , who probably just wants to wrestle, and THAT is the reason he is in Greece. Can you point to any public statements where he attacks Russia and explains his "defection"?
  13. Belly laugh!! Cold War mentality alert! Did Dauren Kureugliev defect, or immigrate? Perhaps he wants to wrestle. He's not getting any younger, turns 31 in July.
  14. Yo, Fletch! Do your own research.
  15. Here we go again. China will NEVER compete against any athlete representing "Taiwan". Taiwanese athletes compete internationally under the name "Chinese Taipei". Perhaps if Israeli athletes competed under the name "Palestine", Iran would be willing to compete with them!
  16. Iran supports the establishment of a Palestinian State and views Israel as an illegitimate state. In truth, the Iranians have said that if Israel and Palestine can reach an agreement that satisfies the Palestinian people, Iran too would accept the deal. The issue, often portrayed by western people with an agenda, is often framed as Iran not being willing to wrestle Jews, as Iran seeking the destruction of Israel. Does that surprise you? If it does, you know little about propaganda, media, government and geo-politics. Perhaps you should also be aware of the fact that outside of Israel, the biggest Jewish population in the region lives in Iran, an ancient people. They repeatedly refuse the money offered by Israel to move to Israel, saying that they are proud Iranian Jews. They have a dedicated representative in the Iranian legislature, and in Iran, where the government pays for students to attend religious instruction, the Jewish students are bussed to receive religious instruction from a Rabbi.
  17. Another ignorant clown comment!! Unbelievable! You should be ashamed of yourself, troll. The truth is that Iranians will not wrestle Israelis in international competition. Iranians WILL wrestle Jews, just not those from Israel. Other Islamic countries wrestle Israelis and Jews from other countries. You should stop commenting on things that you are ignorant of!
  18. I liked Bo Nickal after he pinned Miles Martin. "That's what we do at Penn State! If you want to win NCAA championships, come to Penn State." Best recruitment ad in the universe.
  19. And you think that arrogance is going to help him beat DT?
  20. It hasn't gotten him onto a US freestyle team. Let's see how he does trying to represent the US at 74kg.
  21. That certainly is cringeworthy. His brand of Christianity has no tolerance for other faiths, even other denominations (Catholicism) in Christianity. He should NEVER make public statements like that. Someone needs to talk to him, especially if he plans to wrestle Senior Men's Freestyle. That statement is not going to fly with open minded Christians. Thou shalt not judge.
  22. Listen to his interviews. God has given him the platform to spread his message. I think he believes that God helps him to train, stay healthy, and live right. He certainly doesn't think that God favors him over other wrestlers. I feel a bit uncomfortable listening to him, and for once Jimmy is right; Brooks should become a pastor or minister. It seems like he wants to bring people to the Lord. He's a hammer of a wrestler, that's for sure. To be honest, I'm much more upset when I see Starrocci's interviews. In the post semi-final interview, a reporter asked him about what it's like wrestling guys who keep it close. Instead of answering the question, Star took a very aggressive attitude and asked "Which of my matches here have been close?" He displays too much arrogance, as if he believes that this is necessary to be great. He will learn some humility when he wrestles Senior Men's freestyle.
  23. Good question. A better question might be: what holes are the guys being poached going to fill next year? It's not like they haven't been reloading all along with a strong recruitment program. Cael and co. certainly aren't desperate.
  24. I don't know, dude. Look at the performers this year: the finalists RBY, Haines, Starrocci, and Brooks ALL started their collegiate careers at PSU. Kerk came over from the Ohio State U when Snyder moved to NLWC, so I don't consider that an outright poach. Bartlett and SVN, both third place finishers, also were recruited before freshman year. Not so much poaching, besides Dean.
  25. What's wrong with you? Can someone put a muffler on this guy?
