  1. If that's the case (which I don't doubt despite your username) then this entire thread has been created on the basis of a false premise. And for that I apologize.
  2. Part of me worries that for some of the smaller programs, a larger roster (where most did not have scholarships) could be seen as a positive for school revenue. capping off like these could make it more difficult for smaller programs like Sacred Heart (who has always held a large roster) to stay viable. I worry about the impact of then schools closing programs because of worse funding situations when we are already up against it in that regard.
  3. Using WrestleStat rosters, we are due to lose 398 D1 wrestler to another division or perhaps from the sport altogether. I wonder how many will seek to transfer to another program (perhaps in a lower division)? I would think it would be a shame if the net result from these restrictions would be to lose 14% of all current D1 wresters. These are also people that could be supporters and boosters in the future, depending on how their experience goes.
  4. https://www.flowrestling.org/collections/6752213-the-bader-show-clips/video?playing=14040846 He comes across really personable and relatable. I had a similar but far less sever story and I'm sure many other former weight cutters do as well. For me it wasn't t-bone steaks though - I ate a few slices of pizza (I know - very dumb)
  5. rumor that TJ Stewart may be joining AJ and Kysen in Chapel Hill
  6. https://www.instagram.com/p/DICfKNSSgIp/ Zach Redding to NC State Suggests he will be back down at 133 next year! Vincent Robinson Zach Redding Ryan Jack Koy Buesgens Jackson Arrington Derek Fields Matty Singleton Dylan Fishback Andrew Macchiavello (or portal) Isaac Trumble
  7. Bill Belichick has a big appreciation for wrestlers. I wonder if he ever joins recruiting trips for other sports to inject a bit of star power
  8. I want to see Amos fully healthy, fully fed, and boiling with rage against some big oaf that he will chop in half
  9. but he's done 197 so many times and he looks like a zombie. if he doesn't have a whole new cutting program in mind, this seems like a mistake.
  10. reading on buckeye forum that the Chittum addition (which felt unnecessary to me IMO prior to Herman and Hepner joining the portal) may be in question.
  11. moving passed the nitwit - I think its safe to say Ferrari to Wisconsin right now seems improbable.
  12. JimmySqueaks.. another fart out of his mouth
  13. You should run and hide from Seth Gross if you're so horrified by him. Good Lord
  14. I don't care enough to search for it. He doesn't need need any judgment from me.
  15. didn't his "criminal offense" amount to underage drinking and potentially use of cannabis? pretty common and hardly what we would consider a significant red flag for a young person. sorry I shouldn't have even responded to that
  16. Not a bad replacement for Moore for this year. Moore seems to be more focused and consistent, but Terukina has his moments.
  17. My sense is that its a lot less calculated than we think from the outside. I think its more subject to spontaneity, chance, and happenstance than can be imagined. Relationships and human emotions are unpredictable by nature so I think it's hard to say that teams are making some sort of calculation. I think the primary calculation is to get directionally better which means always being open to wrestlers who might want to try out for the team
  18. I think "they welcome all comers" is a known fact among all of the top programs. you can't win consistently by promising a role to someone that they wouldn't be able to earn themselves. I like the competition aspect. you want guys who are fearless and guys who don't worry about someone trying to take their spot. I'm talking for the top level contending programs they should all have that mentality.
  19. people have been openly speculating it because they are jealous of the school's success on a very loose basis of Ryder and Duke having wrestled on the same team in the past and come from New York.
  20. I bet Cardenas and Garvin will graduate Stanford first and then go to Michigan like Griffith did. So they would be joining in 2027. is that enough time for one of the mantanonas to bulk to 184 lol Botero Sement Lemley Catrabone Cardenas Garvin Brock Man Beau Man Walters Transfer Portal or some new recruit
  21. I use this sort of argument to claim that the NBA and NFL drafts should not exist if there is also a salary cap. The salary cap is enough control IMO. The draft then creates situations where people end up in places they don't want to be.
  22. My feelings are that I'm happy they got paid, I'm happy wrestlers can get paid for what they do in college which is a brutal endeavor. Parity was not great before NIL, and has been worse after. I've reframed how I view the sport and ignore the team race stuff now which is no longer interesting. Overall though I am extremely happy that we found a way to get wrestlers paid. I wish the figures could be public so that young kids could see what the possibilities really were (for better or worse)
