Way too early transfer portal entries
LoserJucoMan replied to The_KC_Godfather's topic in College Wrestling
Crookham is such a high risk/ high reward scenario. He's shown that he's upper echelon and easily a title contender, but he loves to rubber knee and that's probably the source of his issues. He could either place top three or injury out of the season it's a toss up. I don't know which program would want to throw buckets of money towards that -
remember this was the cope everyone used when they would try to defend the Desanto and Ferrari shenanigans? "It helps the sport grow" Still waiting to meet those "Desanto putting somebody in a Kimura and Ferrari doing a split with middle fingers really made me want to sign my kid up for wrestling"
-
I'm not surprised I was in a similar position. I lost in the blood round at fargo as a senior then lost in the blood round at juco nationals. Once I placed the next year I was pretty much satisfied and then kind of dragged my feet when I ended up going D3
-
Ahh idk about that. Like multiple people have mentioned 6th place loses three times as well, but more importantly only the top 10% of every weight class place to begin with. If you wanted to do that then it would probably make more sense to make the national qualifiers more prestigious then. only 7.5% of any weight class can place at nationals by your standard.
-
I'll be completely honest, There's nothing more boring than seeing somebody getting a single and then just pushing the other person out. Same thing goes for when burroughs gets the double and then pushes the other guy out. Folkstyle is already dragging it with the amount of guys that pull the other guy out of bounds while their on top without an immediate stall call.
-
Wait why do you not consider them all americans? Do you consider 8th place not deserving of placing? Do you want it like states where only the top 6 make the podium?
-
Long story short I guess I'm saying is if you do that coach hard "you can do it!" approach I think you should not only mean it but have it be consistent and keep that mentality win or lose
-
I was admittedly very uncoachable throughout most of my wrestling career, and it was often because I never had a coach really invest in me. It always felt like I wasn't a favorite on my team so even though I was one of the hardest workers and busted my ass 110% every practice my coaches respect would fly out the window once I lost. He'd hype me up and hype me up before the match and then once I lost I got a pat on the back and was ignored the rest of the tournament for the guys still on the winning side of the bracket. That kind of made me develop a "I can only trust myself" mentality in high school and college
-
It's ultimately up to him, if he feels satisfied in his wrestling career and doesn't have that drive anymore then he should hang it up. Look at Byrd, I don't think he had the same kind of hunger and drive he did last year and he ended up performing below expectations. It's really hard to regain that drive to prove something once you lose it.

You know you're doing bad when your instate competition: an ivy league school that doesn't do athletic scholarships and a team in the MAC that has way less funding is able to get AA's and somehow you can't.

Aaaaaaaand there it is. Let's see what the excuse will be if he loses next year

Undefeated freshmen - a threat to Cael?
LoserJucoMan replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Nah doesn't count. Adams was on HGH so Ferrari's actually undefeated -
Kurt McHenry racial & SA allegations at psu?

In all seriousness I know Schizophrenia will usually start around the mid twenties so looking at all the videos I'd say it's probably that. -

Are you sure it wasn't a blood sacrifice to the wrestling gods? -
Undefeated freshmen - a threat to Cael?
LoserJucoMan replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
I just know you were gritting your teeth while typing that lol -
I have no idea how that would work. Iowa is so used to handfighting and staying in stance that it feels like they'd have to reinvent that mentality to get involved with more scrambles. Iowa should probably get someone that can help them open up more offensively, like a master at creating angles or something. Everyone was so gunshy this season except Caliendo. And we see the clear difference between him and his teammates
-
It's because he's a singer at heart but stuck being a wrestler. So instead of following his dreams and going on The voice he's stuck wrestling Caliendo for eternity

Undefeated freshmen - a threat to Cael?
LoserJucoMan replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
I'm in the same boat as you. If they do pull it off I'm putting them above Cael. Vega beating a dominate guy like Mendez and Jax winning 3 more times in a weight class that stacked puts them way over the bar. -
He raises a great point. In my opinion if you only mention an injury when you lose I don't care. Everybody gets hurt and banged up in a season, there is no "well he would've won had he not been hurt" consolation prize. I guess we'll see if this is a pattern that persists with each loss. Could've been worse. Could've done a Desanto lol

I don't know honestly, they still have three years to go. People now have time and footage to try to counter their style. There could easily be another Zain-Steiber type of match that happens out of nowhere. On the other hand, I can see it happening those guys are so damn hard to take down lol -
Will PSU Attend NDI or Schedule OSU Next Season
LoserJucoMan replied to Offthemat's topic in College Wrestling
My main thing is the incentive, PSU is the most dominant team, they've won the championships like what 8 times out of the last 10 years and broke the scoring record three times in a row. They don't need the money they have a ton and spend a ton. They don't need to go to the tournament to prove they're the best, that's evident. On top of that wasn't the duals right after U-21 worlds? So now you have to weigh priorities. I don't see how going to this tournament benefits them in any way. Sure it benefits the spectators, but it just wouldn't make sense for them to go. And the other issue is CKLV was way less competitive as a result. We'll see how the scheduling works next year but I think it's good for a major event to not revolve around PSU and create the same amount of hype that OSU built after they beat Iowa in the finals. -

Oh yeah loser's in the name I find ironic stuff like that funny. You can think I'm a burner account but I don't know why anyone would create a burner account for a wrestler forum lol. I'm just a dude who was lurking all season and said screw it why not make an account. Now back onto you, you replied toGV4444's post where you focused on people doing what's best for the sport. you said, "What has Cael done to help save any programs on the chopping block or for D1 college wrestling in general?". To the best of my knowledge David Taylor is the only head coach who's been outspoken about saving CBU wrestling, so yeah Cael didn't say anything but neither did Tom Ryan, Tom Brands, Kevin Dresser etc. I just don't get why we're not holding the rest of these guys up to the same standard. I like the callout of Cael. It's the lack of coaches banding together that led to Programs like Oregon losing their program in 2007 literally after Shane Webster won in 2006. If we really care about wrestling we've got to be consistent though -

You can insult me all you want but I won't stoop down to that level. I acknowledged the help part but why did you skip the part of holding the other coaches of major accountable? It's not like Cael has some sole responsibility for helping wrestling grow. All the coaches do. So if you're going to criticize Cael sure, but don't ignore when Brands and the other guys do it. That's just weird. -

Just going to ignore my reply Huh -
I think Mcenelly wrestled exactly how he should have. Unless you're someone like Messybrink where you know you can destroy this dude with your eyes closed you probably shouldn't be that reckless. There's never a guarantee you ever end up in the finals again be it from upset, injury, whatever, so wrestling smart is probably the best plan.
