  1. Someone's going to pay top dollar for Meyer to be a title contender and be hyped up for it to be his year to win it until he gets upset at NCAAS. It's a yearly tradition
  2. Was it right before bedtime?
  3. I agree. I think the fresh perspective can really help not ending up in an echo chamber. The Brands probably want an assistant coach they know won't really challenge them.
  4. I think these refs just need to start giving more stall calls. Having great leg defense and being able to scramble into a takedown is great, but at the same time that's not creating offense. Reattacking is a great skill, but when that's the ONLY way you can generate offense then the coaches have a problem they need to figure out. When these guys that do nothing start to lose due to stall calls then they'll either have two options: 1.Learn to create some actual offense or 2.Risk losing close matches due to stalling.
  5. Iowa is criticized for their wrestlers lack of offense and fear of scrambling so they potentially hire JACOB WARNER!? I had to rewatch some of his old matches to see if he did as little as I remember. This focus on only hiring former Hawkeyes is only going prevent Iowa from improving on their weak points even more.
  6. You're preaching to the choir here. As an example when you look at the details of all of these D1 football players that get paperweight degrees and end up with nothing because of an injury or something while these coaches make millions you can't help but feel dirty. I'm not against a strict 4 year cutoff. I absolutely do think some of these guys need to make more of an effort towards degrees but that issue in itself is the NCAA. I think the only reason this rule change is being proposed is so the NCAA can take advantage of young impressionable athletes. Same reason why they're trying to limit the amount of transfers you can do now
  7. Okay let's look at this pragmatically: It doesn't make sense for people attending an institution where students are paying tens of thousands a semester should be excluded from participating in athletics because of age. There are a million reasons why someone might not go to college straight out of high school, but limiting access to athletics because one doesn't have the money to go to college immediately is ridiculous. The club argument would hold ground if once again it didn't cost money. It's the equivalent of saying "You had to take time off from college? sucks for you now go play pickup in the park". On top of that most of those clubs are based in a college that actively recruits the wrestlers on the team. Don't get me started on NIL. These nonsensical restrictions is why the lawsuit that created NIL happened in the first place. Do you have any examples of older athletes that somehow made it unfair that would back up your point?
  8. I'm not going to lie these are all horrible ideas. Eligibility abuse is not an issue to where these things need to be implemented. It's fun for jokes but at the end of the day it legit doesn't matter. You're never "too old" to compete in sports. Please show an example of a situation that's so blatant something like this would even need to be implemented in the first place
  9. I don't usually follow Cal Poly. Zeth Romney tried to pull a Desanto and intentionally hurt somebody?
  10. So I'm not sure what you majored in nor what your career path is. Just going by google the average median salary of a northwestern undergrad degree is 76-80k. For Stanford though its 99-117k. At the same time most of the top wrestlers don't even end up using their degrees and just go the Olympic path. If I were a finance major or something it's a joke to compare how far the Stanford name goes when compared to Iowa or Ohio state. At the end of the day the choice is there's and I've never had the option to make potentially hundreds of thousands for transferring so what do I know lol
  11. don't forget getting arrested mid season
  12. Bouzakis is in a tight spot. I don't think he can beat davino for 133 but the cut at 125 was clearly brutal for him. Aden Valencia just one a Championship at one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world as a freshman. Even if he doesn't win the rest of his career a degree from Stanford can him make WAY more money in the long term than NIL can. Didn't all the Stanford people in the portal get their degrees in 3 years? Makes sense why they would jump into the portal. Bennett Berge is already in the portal and Braeden Davis needs to transfer to anger management lol.
  13. Oh yeah did say he had 3-5 surgeries. The fact he got 6th at NCAA's is just another piece of sweet sweet irony
  14. He could be hurt but that injury doesn't mean he didn't lose and then cry about how Yonger was heavier and should be drug tested Like you said multiple things can be right at the same time. How serious is the injury? Don't know, only he really knows. But stop acting like his past actions don't warrant skepticism
  15. I'm Shocked. I genuinely never expected him to leave. He had such a great season too avenging his quarterfinal loss to Spratley in consolations. I guess that NIL money was too tempting
  16. Nothing says sincere like not even being able to write your own apology
  17. My issue with redemption is that it's often afforded too quickly. You have to show WHY you deserve a second chance, and that should involve a concerted effort of trying to improve. It's not like he just yelled at his kid in the corner or something he tried to turn his son's head into a rugby ball because he LOST. Now I call myself LoserJucoMan because I like irony but for the longest time I thought losing in wrestling meant I would be a loser in life, then I graduated college and realized almost nobody gives a shit about college sports in the real world. I think some people take that "If you're not first you're last" mentality too hard
  18. damn you caught me red handed
  19. Absolutely true it's up to how he makes it up to his son. Now I'll be fair and won't make assumptions. Let's say this is the first time he's done anything of the sort. I don't really care about apologies. In this day and age it's hard to tell what's genuine and what's to save face. Dude needs anger management or therapy or something.
  20. Is the surgery going to repair the Steroid accusation?
  21. Am I the only one that doesn't care about the apology? You're a grown man. Nobody should have to tell you to not grab your son by the head and throw him down. At what point for some of these people do they have to realize it's not okay to take your anger out on your child period? At the end of the day it's just a sport like relax dude
  22. I think it's got a good ring to it
  23. Really? intermat has him as a senior in the rankings. That's my bad.
  24. I'm going heavy weight. 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,7th and 8th are all graduating. All that's left is Keuter and Ferrari, who might cut down to 197 next year wherever he ends up. Another one is 174, a very dominant 1st, 3rd, 4th, are gone. Minto is definitely a contender next year but I can't say he runs away with it. Those two weight classes are going to have a bunch of new blood on the podium next year
  25. Who cares about nicknames? Do you think Jordan Burroughs can only see the color gold or that Kyle snyder is really Captain America? Call him Lackluster Lilledahl that's an another alliteration that might be more to your liking
