  1. Because most knowledgeable wrestling fans acknowledge greatness, just like Iowa fans did in Iowa City with David Taylor, Ed Ruth, Gable Steveson, etc. Add to it that Spencer is a PA native and instead they chose to boo him just shows what we already knew about that fanbase. Either way, I'm sure Spencer isn't losing any sleep over it.
  2. Jesus, there is so much stupid in this post. 1. I wasn't pointing out PSU 125 to show they underperformed. I was responding to someone saying it was a lopsided dual, which is really wasn't. You don't have 5 weights not score an offensive point and another lose 18-2 and call it a lopsided win. 2. I said, "Matches were 6-4, I believe the match points were close too. Within 5 points? That's not lopsided when you consider Iowa wrestled a backup 165 lber at 184 vs a 2x champ." Brooks scored 22 of their 44 match points vs a 165 true freshman back-up wrestling up two weights. Do you think he scores 22 points on Assad? 3. You're right, Vespa did take Spencer down and did a great job getting teched and not pinned (thanks to some help from those bonus PD calls). Either way though, Spencer was getting 5 or 6 and was going to be putting up points, back up or not. That is NOT the same with 184 with Assad wrestles. It's most likely a major as worst. Now does that help clear up your obvious confusion from my initial post?
  3. Dude, PSU didn't score a single offensive point in FIVE matches and got teched 18-2 in another match. TWO of their returning NCAA champions won 2-1 on a riding point. WTF are you talking about Iowa stalled to keep it close? You actually think Starocci and Dean were working for points? Brands kept his position and stayed in the middle of the mat the entire match. That's not running, dawg. Brands was never close to winning just like Bartlett, Van Ness, and Facudno were never close to winning. The only Iowa wrestler who truly stalled was Teske and he paid for it.
  4. How so? Drake Rhodes is a 157/165 true freshman back-up who wrestled 184. Marco Vespa is 125 RS sophomore who wrestled 125. You really can't figure this out?
  5. Yea and you'd have a point if he bumped up two weights to wrestle him. Edit.. Lol, maybe 3 weights? Roster has him 157/165 true freshman: https://hawkeyesports.com/sports/wrestling/roster/season/2022-23/player/drake-rhodes/
  6. PSU didn't score an offensive point in five matches, and two of those were returning NCAA champs (141, 149, 165, 174, 197). They got teched in another match (125). Matches were 6-4, I believe the match points were close too. Within 5 points? That's not lopsided when you consider Iowa wrestled a backup 165 lber at 184 vs a 2x champ.
  7. The fact is was mixed as all is embarrassing for PSU fans.
  8. Are you able to watch ACC Network events on ESPN+?
  9. Just out of curiosity, at what level does one have to compete to be more than a "fan" to you? Is D2 high enough or do we have to make a Senior World team before we can debate with the great LJB? I don't think you realize how arrogant you're coming off in this thread, almost as if you're gatekeeping the sport. "Me and mine have had a certain experience with the sport, so every person has to have the same experience or else they have no idea what they are talking about." It's very cool that your son is having success at the highest level, but that doesn't make you some oracle of the sport. You've already done a great job of proving that in this thread.
  10. Sooooo, in other words, not facts. Also, what makes you think a 24 year old athlete's best days are behind him?
  11. I am not sure you understand what this word means. Saying things like Spencer is "not even a little" technical or "Lee has never separated himself as a wrestler but he can definitely beat up some runts and mids in the c league" aren't facts. They are opinions that clearly stem from sour grapes. Also, I'm still laughing at the fact that LJB brought up a story on a message board about Spencer mean mugging his son 10 years ago, but then claims he didn't care about it. Lol sure, dude.
  12. Everyone is disagreeing with my unpopular opinion. I better just chalk it up to hero worship. Arrogance and stupidity, a deadly combo lol.
  13. Can you link an interview where Spencer had an excuse for any of his five losses? His illness from 2019 still hasn't been disclosed publicly, so once again, I am not following here.
  14. Isn't this the case with everyone, torn ACL or not? My cardio was much better vs bad competition too and I never tore my ACL. Also, I can't think of one comparable example of a college wrestler consistently getting up by 10+ points in the first period like Spencer, so I am not really following your second point either.
  15. Where are you getting this? I don't remember anyone from "the Iowa faithful" claiming this nor do I even remember the moment you are talking about. I just did a search on HR for "Cardinale dirty" and "Cardinale knee" and came away with nothing. Not one post stating anything like you mentioned. I also went back rewatched the entire match and still can't figure out what you're talking about. I'm guessing you saw one or two people tweet something about it when it happened and in your head that was "the Iowa faithful" crying. But hey, being wrong hasn't stopped you guys from running with a bunk narrative before, so why stop now?
  16. Lol this is truly all I can see when I read your posts in this thread:
  17. LOL guess again, bud. You're right about one thing though. Your idiotic "nuanced" opinions are your own, so stick with it. The rest of us will continue to point out how ridiculous you are.
  18. You're absolutely right. There are levels to this shit and you refuse to recognize what Spencer has gone through to get to this point. Can you point to another wrestler who has gone through the same adversity and still come out on top time and time again like he has? If you want to recognize that there are levels, then recognize that what Spencer is doing on this level through all the adversity is unheard of. This really reads like someone who likes Spencer lol: "technically, Lee has never separated himself as a wrestler... but he can definitely beat up some runts and mids in the c league"
  19. It's Iowa hate, plain and simple. It's the same thing with downplaying Spencer Lee's cadet and junior world titles, as well as his 2019 US Open championship. BuT fIx AnD gIlMaN wErEn'T iN tHe BrAcKeT I'm sure LJB is also one of those people who believes Spencer wasn't the reason TG left IC.
  20. This man is really trying to state "he can definitely beat up some runts and mids in the c league" as fact LOL. Show us on the doll where Spencer Lee touch you..
  21. Minus the Cinnabon, this might be the front runner for dumbest post of 2023 so far. Great work!
  22. He's obviously not talking about accolades, and more about wrestling skill and pure talent. It's his opinion but I can assure you he's not saying it in jest. I just hope we actually get a few years of watching a fully healthy Spencer Lee wrestle freestyle.
  23. I don't agree with that at all. If matches go as expected, based on rankings, it will come down to heavyweight. Cass is 3-1 vs Kerk, so could you really call that loss unexpected? Ironically, I think that match is the most "toss-up" of them all. Per usual, it's going to be a great dual and both teams are going to have to bring it.
