this would have been a good tourney for some of our #2 and #3 guys... top end age level guys... a few victories and medals would not hurt our guys at all...

well... the qually greco has been a little bit uninspired, but, this 60kg semis has a little sauce to it...

63kg- any day we get to see iman mohammadi is a good day... the boys and i are all in agreement that he is our current favorite to watch... his foot fighting is nasty... ciobanu is another personal fave in the same bracket... 55kg- the only american who wrestled for a medal at serbia is not going... 60kg- interesting from a personal stand point... domestically our deepest weight... top 3 will all be there... 72kg- we have benji... i am interested to see how he responds to last years big jump and then the reality check of international greco... 77kg- i am finally officially and completely done with any expectations for kamal... i like holmes and he wrestles, but, US greco... there is still hope for our young guy jacobson... he won some matches at U20 last year... 87kg- prepared for vera to rip my heart out again...

whatever a tourney is named means little... the gold old days were not really that good... that is across the board... nostalgia has it's place, but, nostalgia does not a medal make...

which is precisely why i have not looked a second time... that path leads towards damnation...

i was told once what USAW working budget was (albeit from about 10 years ago)... if what i was told was correct, the number is shockingly low... i also know what a greco national team member was being given as a stipend last year... again, shockingly low...

praise odin our athletes are not held accountable for any of our government's actions...

i have no clue if the UWW "owns" rights to that tourney, but, it clearly was a UWW sanctioned event previously and would not exist as such now... regardless, they are still wrestling in russian no matter what ridiculous ban is being imposed on their athletes, so, i can not see any reason an athlete could not go over for whatever they wanted as long as they are ok with some online whining that would inevitably come from someone with an agenda...

those that want to go to the yarygin pretty much do, but, i suspect almost all off them that do are being funded by their RTCs and not USAW...

the only international tourneys that makes sense to send our women's style reps are the ranking tourneys... there just is not enough value outside of those to send our best... our greco guys any tourney could have value...

i have no doubt... the deglane greco participation is an indictment on depth and lack of resources more than anything... a symptom of the overall issues...
