1. How many of the AWA guys enter the portal if (when) this happens?

I’d be surprised if the ones in their last year or two did, O’toole, Keckeisen, etc.

I’d also be surprised if Mesenbrink did.

But the ones that are going in next year or are only a year or so in? Sinclair, Millard, Riddle, some of the others I’d expect to go home. I’ve been told to expect all the Minnesota AWA kids to head over if he’s hired. That’s the part I feel confident in.

2. There are two sides to me on this one. One of me just wants to see PSU with like...3 guys per weight who could win a NC just to see PSU be the first team to one-up Minnesota with 10 in the Finals(no more than 8 champs though).
And then there's the other side of me that thinks this is already ridiculous and it'd be much cooler if these kids would just Wrestle for another team like Ohio State who could actually push them or Iowa, ISU...I don't care. Okie State?

But yeah, they'll probably be at PSU because...why wouldn't they.

It’s past ridiculous to me. I’m ready for real team competition. That’s when the NCAA tournament and the season as a whole is most fun to watch. Doesn’t even have to be my team as the ones contending, though that helps haha

3. Because I thought Hamiti was coming in to stay at 165 to fill the gap of Olejnik leaving.  I never heard that he was also moving up.  I guess because I have always thought that Hamiti has looked so lean at 165 that he may be over powered in my mind by the solid 74lbers.

Willie on his show this week said it’s been decided for months that Hamiti was going 174 next year. Regardless of if that was at Wisconsin or not. Must have been a tougher cut than most realized, including me. I thought he looked lean too.

4. What exactly makes Cunningham the strongest kid at any weight class he enters?

I don’t understand that statement either. I don’t even see Cunningham ever starting there. Maybe in spots like Barraclaugh. He’s good, but not on the level of some of the others they’ve brought in.

5. I'm very bullish on McCrone in all honesty. I think if you compare his year with Kilkeary it was quite a bit better, and he's improved immensely since being at Ohio state. My hopes are they can get Davino skinny but without jeopardizing his wrestling. Having watched Vinnie a ton in high school I feel like his development got a bit stagnant but I'm sure working with jaggers will help with that. I think they put out a guy that can push to potentially AA no matter what.

If Ben Davino can make 125 and be healthy doing so, he will win multiple titles. I feel confident in that.

Especially if Luke Lilledahl is at 133.

6. These two have the capability to elevate a school to the level that they could actually contend with Cael as a team in the next ten years. I doubt it happens, but if both were to end up at Oklahoma state, for example, they could actually push the likes of PJ Duke, Lilledahl, Sealey, Ryder, the Mirasola’s etc from a tournament perspective. Would be fun and good, imo.

7. Askey I could see fitting in well.  Regarding Oakley - if they brought him on board, would the plan be to redshirt Tyler Wells?

Redshirt or bump up, depends how the offseason goes I suppose. Both Wells and Vombaur have room to add weight.

8. Mirasola is going to be training with Cael Sanderson, David Taylor, Jake Varner, Kyle Snyder and Aaron Brooks.

I’d put a lot of money on him winning that match at 197.

Are there any matches that you would not put money on a PSU recruit winning in the next 1-5 years? I know their room is elite. Okie states is pretty good as well.

9. That lineup might get blanked by PSU in two years.

Lilledahl/Davis/Desmond
Lilledahl/Davis/Desmond/Nagao
Kasak
SVN
Mesenbrink/Sealey
Haines/Sealey
Facundo/Ryder/Haines
Barr
Mirasola
Mirasola

I’m taking OSU at 184 through HWT there, at minimum. Probably 174 too.

Lockett vs Sealey would be a battle as well.

10. One year of eligibility left.  Best Chittum and Brayton Lee at NCAAs.
Who needs a 157lber?

Minnesota does! But we suck at the transfer portal so there’s no way we get him.

11. Rumor is Salazar, if he comes back, will head down to 174lbs.

He is coming back. There’ll be a wrestle off for 184.

Salazar and McEnelly lose to every 197 in the gopher room. Bumping up isn’t an option. Salazar going down certainly could be, from what I hear. If Salazar beats McEnelly for the spot and McEnelly transfers out, I will openly be wanting Eggum out. Cannot happen.

12. Even if they can’t lure a guy like Cunningham, I think a guy like Brandvold would be pretty successful. He’s a Wisconsin native who had a great career, has been coaching in college and must have good connections to Wisconsin high school coaches.
scourge165 do you know if Brandvold has a good relationship with Askren. If not, then maybe it’s not much better than Bono, but since Minnesota lands AWA guys I’d imagine he and Askren are on good terms.

Brandvold has had a significant hand in recruiting Jager Eisch, Ethan Riddle, Charlie Millard, Wyatt Duchateau and any other AWA kids at Minnesota.

13. IdahoCraigOR - what do you guys think for the Beavers?
125: Maximo Renteria
133: Gabe Whisenhunt
141: Cleveland Belton
149: Nash Singleton
157: CJ Hamblin / Murphy Menke / Dagen Condomitti / Ayden Garver
165: Kekana Fouret
174: Matthew Olguin
184: Trey Munoz
197: Justin Rademacher
285: Aden Attao
157 seems like it could use a bit of a boost.  but otherwise quite solid.  I hope we see Attao next year

I’m excited about Aden Attao. That kid is impressive.

14. They also changed the rules against his previous style.  Namely they increased stall calls on guys running parallel rides but not trying to turn.  And also they have kept a closer eye on locks that go across the neck.

Nagao beat Kai Orine last year in a match where he lost the takedown battle 2-0, but still won on escapes, riding time and a reversal. This was not the only match last year he won that way.

With the 3 point takedown, he was bound to probably lose more.
