  1. Wyatt Hendrickson posted that he visited Michigan and will not take a 4th visit. He will decide between Michigan, Oklahoma State and Minnesota. My money is on Okie State.

  2. I am not going to pretend to be an expert and admittedly this information might be outdated but I did find this:

Also, I believe Minnesota can agree to waiver if they choose if an exception doesn't apply.

This makes sense. I am curious though, to maintain eligibility after those two years, he had to have used two redshirts. Regular and Olympic. Does using those redshirts count as not competing? When a guy redshirts, do they have to redshirt tied to a specific team? Now I’m not even asking about Gable specifically, just in general. Being a compliance person for the NCAA would be a nightmare lol.

  3. Kind've limits his NIL stash don't ya think?  That seems unlucky.

Should he wrestle for Minnesota again, his pockets will be far from empty for doing so lol

  4. The simple reading is he is out of luck. But I do not know if I am missing any exceptions or exemptions.

If by out of luck you mean he needs to wrestle for the gophers or no one at all, we have different definitions of the term

  5. Sorry if this has been asked and answered already but I cannot find anything. Is there a second portal window for wrestlers now in the fall that would allow them to compete at a different school second semester?

  6. We should start tossing out official predictions for the landing spots on all below. I’ll go first. I’ll admit, some of these are more of a hope than a prediction…

    Alirez - Northern Colorado
    Hendrickson - Oklahoma State
    Parco - Iowa
    Amine - Virginia Tech
Cannon - no idea, maybe Purdue?
    Barraclough - Arizona State
    Nijenhuis - NDSU
    Belton - Cal Poly

  7. Taylor needs to bring dieringer back
Getting dake is a check mate type move

I would love to see Dake do exactly what Taylor is doing now except next offseason and take over a program himself. Bring cenzo or RBY or someone with him, spread the wealth a little bit. Even if it was Iowa or something, the more elite programs the better

  8. I think this just solidity’s Tyler Wells redshirting next season. He just wrestled 65kg at U20. Morvari did pretty well last season, I assume Flynn is going 125

    125-Cooper Flynn Jr
    133-Brandon Morvari Fr
    141-Vance Vombaur-Jr
    149-Drew Roberts Jr
    157-Tommy Askey Jr
    165-Blaine Brenner Jr
    174-Clayton Whiting So
    184-Max McEnelly Fr
    197-Isaiah Salazar Sr
    Hwt-Bennett Tabor Jr

I think next year you bump Wells to 141 and Vombaur to 149. If Wells can make 133 again this will be a top 5 ranked dual team with all 10 qualifying and probably 5 AAs. In 2025-26 if we retain all our talent I think Hopke builds into a real AA contender as a Fr and Millard takes over 165 as a FR

Morvari is tiny, Eisch at 133 in this scenario.

  9. Jokes on you, I'm unemployed.

Good call though. I didn't see MN happening.

Haha just messing with you. I had heard they were on his short list from the beginning and his visit went really well. Was just a numbers game from there.

  10. I was presented with new info, changing my tune (this is the internet I can do that as many times as I want with no repercussions) Gable does have a year left. Whether or not he wants to use it, and where, is the question. So excited to do this again!!

Alright where’s the guy who said he’d bet his last paycheck on this not happening. As you can see, I’m a very poorwrestler and could use the cash.

  12. I was really really hoping we were never going to get a “will he or won’t he come back” situation with Gable again. I still maintain I believe he has no remaining eligibility.

  13. I'm not privy to the process to declare an Olympic redshirt with deadlines and such, but if he was teasing a comeback this past season he could come back this coming year.

I believe you have to declare an Olympic redshirt sometime prior to the actual trials, and that was never done.

  14. Are you sure?
    2019- Freshman
    2020- Sophomore
    2021- Free year
    2022- Junior
    2023- Redshirt
    2024- Olympic Redshirt
    2025- ???

I don’t have anything from like, an admin, but a pretty close source.

  15. It would be absolutely invaluable for Merill to get to role with Wyatt for a year rather than just doucet and a beefed up chris perry and slimmed down christian carroll.

I feel the same about Hopke. Would be another added benefit for sure.

  16. Not to mention, he would have to have some commitment that Gable will stay in Minnesota and train with him the entire year.   Gable has been known to go back and forth, I wouldn't commit to Minnesota just because Gable said he was planning to return.

Gable never entirely stopped training at Minnesota. He did it less frequently the last year or so, but he has always been coming back. I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest to see him back training for more freestyle medals very soon. He is out of NCAA eligibility.

Also, Hayden Zillmer and Trent Hillger are no slouches. Zillmer is a world teamer in his own right and a great practice partner. The group doesn’t compare to michigans without Gable, but better than the practice partners Okie State and Mizzou would have to offer imo.

  17. Minnesota seems like a really good place for him. You don't screw with any of the top recruits and you get a 1 year fit who's very likely going to finish top 4 with the very real potential to win it.
I'd take Kerkvliet, but the PSU room isn't the only place people get better. Heavyweight U...and it'd be great for Hopke. Someone to kick his ass everyday and hopefully he can step in for the '25-'26 season at about 250 after adding ~15LBs of Muscle and...start to contend for NCs.

Our ace in the hole is Gable possibly coming back to train with the group that’s already there, Hillger, Zillmer, Hopke etc.
