  1. And some of the same people who say that “brands works the hawks too hard” are the same people who are complaining about him being cautious with guys like Spencer, Woods, and Nelson. Hey! I thought Nelson was out for the year?
  2. I feel as if Cassar lost more than a year. His last year, he was hurt wrestling Dom Bradley (?) during a freestyle tournament in the middle of folk style season. Career ending. Dont forget Robbie Howard, Suriano, rasheed, etc. Like you said, this stuff happens
  3. John Lockhart begs to differ.
  4. Was Mocco the first one to have an 'era that was enjoyed?' Courtesy of Leonce Crump?
  5. JTTS! Beat me to it. Also author of an amazing Mocco song parody.
  6. I'm always nervous. Gregory is very good. However, don't forget that Anthony was clearly injured the last time they wrestled. (Which is the same excuse we heard about Young Greg's losses in the past) It is definitely nice to have some big boys who wrestle in all positions. We have several guys ATM who may have been multiple time champs in other eras.
  7. I feel as if Kerk is going to break through at some point, and this might be the night to do it. However, he is not "healthy" and never will be.
  8. My uncle, who was a college coach and professor (whom taught a class in sports ethics) once remarked to me: "Harvard has a lot of poor kids on their hockey team."
  9. Kerk is not healthy. He is lacking an ACL.
  10. Gomez wrestled a freestyle tournament the week before.
  11. A bunch of Euro and American babies announced they were going to protest Qatari social injustices levied at homosexuals by wearing gear supporting LGBTQ+ rights. FIFA threatened them with wildcards and the teams backed down like a bunch of entitled brats. If you want to protest injustices, you have to be willing to accept the consequences and embrace those consequences. Otherwise you are a poseur. Very disappointed. Can you imagine if the players and teams didn't back down? Is FIFA really prepared to deal with the fallout of the largest TV audiences not tuning in because some of the best sides are DQed? I think if the teams really cared about the cause and didn't blink, they probably win this showdown. Having the world cup in Qatar was a huge mistake on multiple levels. In the MEN'S tournament, my heart goes out to the Iranian side for their protest against their own nation's regime. I pray for these brave and strong young men.
  12. Yes, this does work. It is just that they haven't been doing it much in the last few years.
  13. I see tons of 3/4 Nelson's in Penn State matches!
  14. Another question: Which of us on this board is actually "Mr. Pat Mineo?"
  15. Do Badgers eat nuts?
  16. The Hall situation clearly happened before NIL. I would imagine that you would have to reevaluate as the circumstances changed. However, initially (pre-NIL) I would have been very reluctant to attend that event based on the Hall situation. Also, the assumption that the All-Star is considered in rankings is a good one, until your athlete pulls a big upset and it isn't considered.
  17. Yeah. I wouldn't be happy with that. I would probably pull future athletes from that particular competition until there was more clarity as to whether it really "counts" or not.
  18. I'm not sure that I remember this. Can you please remind the board?
  19. It does seem like Iowa has a lot, but you could look at a number of other programs and they have had their share. Perhaps not as highly publicized? For instance, Minnesota always seems to be heavily taped up at the end of the year; Penn State has had plenty, too. (Nolf, Cassar, Kerkvliet, Berge, Berge, Starocci, Howard, Howard, Rasheed, Suriano, etc.) (Maybe we don't think about the PSU injuries as much because they have been doing more winning as individuals and as a team?) Cornell as well. Maybe we are seeing more injuries due to the extra (Covid) year? Another year of D1 wear and tear is probably a lot for many of these kids. As far as the all-star meet: Is it like in years past? In the past, the matches did not count toward seeding. If that is the case, why bother pushing an injury?
