I've heard that there was a serious beef between Bartlett and Starocci regarding Bartlett's girlfriend with Starocci's opinion that Bartlett was more concerned about her than wrestling i.e. Bartlett wasn't putting in the extra effort to be a champ. Carter allegedly said some really crude/rude comments about her There were a lot of rumors around December/January that a girlfriend was causing issues for a Penn State wrestler if anyone remembers.
-
Yes, you were correct about Caliendo but incorrect about Blaze having to win his third place match.
-
4th place has the option to take the U23 slot even though they wouldn't make the national team. If MM does not take the spot, J. Blaze can take it, regardless of the outcome of the 3rd place match. Same with M. Blaze at 65 even if he loses to Hardy since those above him are not age eligible.
-
I'm not a Penn State fan, just really dislike Iowa. Was saving the "even backups at Iowa State can make an U23 team, why can't anyone from Iowa make U20 or U23 comment for later"
-
This is the only thread in which I've posted that. Maybe Iowa fans' misunderstanding of words like "multiple" are why they've made comments like "Gabe Arnold will win multiple national championships".
-
A lot have already indicated they will claim their rightful slot. 86 had multiple all-americans since no one from the national team was age eligible as an example as there were some really weak weight classes in weights where the national team member is obviously claiming the spot.
-
The playing field has definitely been leveled. U20 team - Iowa and Penn State combined for 5 of the 10 spots. No one else had more than 1. U23 team - Iowa and Penn State combined for 7 of the 10 spots. 12 of 20 spots or 60% of the teams are Iowa and Penn State combined if all of the U23 spot winners opt to take them.
-
It's always interesting to see weights like 86 get multiple all-americans since none of the National Team members are age eligible vs weights like 57 where they aren't competing for the U23 team.

Zeigler looks like a coach's kid. Sound positionally, solid hand fighting. Looks like he lacks athleticism but will probably all American some day.
-
Zeigler with an early 4 points lead over Guanajuato
-
Daniel Herrera, ISU Hwt backup, wins the first match against Crew Howard, Nebraska-Kearney.
-
Wouldn't that be an indication that some state tournaments are more difficult than a watered down u23 field.
-
Bassett is going to develop much more In college. If there's one thing the Brands teach, it's dynamic offense. Half of the U20 team is Penn State and Iowa combined so it's definitely the place for Bassett to develop his world aspirations.

Calling any high school kid names really makes you look like a douche.

Yea, they are going to cut the kids of arguably the best coach in the country. Especially the one who is a top 10 recruit. Perry is a top 30 recruit who isn't costing wrestling a dime since a parent works there. Cochran barely lost the spot to a national finalist. He's bumped up and beaten an all American HWT. I'm surprised he didn't Bearclaw and AA somewhere else.
-
That's an intelligent response. Penn State has more than 20 untouchable wrestlers on the roster that would never be cut. Lilledahl, Desmond, Davis, Nagao, Ono, Blaze, Perry, Cunningham, Van Ness, Kasak, Duke, Sealey, Mesenbrink, Haines, Henckel, Cunningham, Welsh, Barr, Mirasola, Cochran, Mirasola... are all safe.
-
Kennedy wouldn't make the roster unless he changed weight as Penn State has Haines, Henkel and Cunningham. Same with 133/141 Penn State has Davis, Nagao,(All Americans) Blaze (top recruit), Ono (world champ), Perry (getting no money) and Cunningham (Coaches kid). Ayala would but Bailey doesn't bump anyone off the roster. Whomever starts at 157 doesn't make Penn State's top 30. Endenne doesn't make it at 197 either though he might make the roster at heavyweight.
-
Most schools' wrestlers have July/August/September to heal/recover/train. A bunch of Penn State wrestlers will be making U20, U23 and World Teams. They'll use September/October/November to heal/recover/train. So Penn State sends a JV team? All that would do is prove to what everyone already knows. Some of Iowa's starters couldn't even make Penn State's roster with the roster cap.
-
Final X is going to be great to be a HWC fan. They only have to watch one weight and can go on about the rest of their day. Poor Ok State and NLWC fans are going to pay attention to a bunch of weights and spend hours watching. Final X wrestlers with college eligibility Jax Forrest 4 years Oklahoma State, Lillidahl 3 years, Duke 4 years, Mess 2 years, Haines 1 year, Barr 3 years Penn State.

Spencer Lee skipped 4 years of WADA testing by not wrestling freestyle. Roid monkey is balding and has bacne. No one refuted it so it has to be true. The only source of a federal bust is a known liar, vhs.
-
That's because there are websites where one can look at every state and local arrest in Ohio. When his name wasn't on there, the "it was federal" was made up.
-
Correct is important but if one has to watch it 20 times to make a decision, the call on the mat should stand. It really should be to correct clear and obvious errors. I am all for a brick costing a point if losing the challenge.
-
I get that but by the way this is written, if a headgear falls off and you slide it out of the way, you get an unsportsmanlike? That's about the only scenario where I have seen a wrestler slide anything. Of course they may do away with headgear.
